Trump is a lying waste of space. On the same hand, so is Biden. Anyone who believes a word either of these two say, has made themselves willfully ignorant and dumb. While you tongue your party's ass. Don't forget: The game is rigged in favor of our oligarchy. Our government, both party's helped to rig it in their favor. Medication is way too high priced in America, your party isn't changing that. Rent is too high and your party isn't changing that. We are all being spied on when we go online, unless you have an app to avoid it. Your party isn't changing that. I could make a long list of what both party's aren't doing for America, nor for Americans. But... It would be completely meaningless. People refuse to listen while they tongue their party's ass.
The border is not why Americans or anyone for that matter is addicted to substances. Prohibition made guys like Joe Kennedy rich running illegal smuggling operations. In my view if there's no profit in drug sales. There will less demand for the stuff. It's been booze, ytobacco, heroin, meth, barbituates, cocaine, and now fentanyl or oxycontin.....I remember the young people sniffing glue in paper bags and looking like zpmbies in the 60s....drugs will not go away with a fence. Addiction needs to be addressed through education and access to rehabilitation. Kids will get high off anything they can get their hands on if they have addictive personalities to begin with.
Doesn't matter. Biden is far less damaging and nobody else has a chance. If Biden were to step down history tells us that Trump would likely win. I hate that these are our choices, but life sucks... No choice but to vote Biden unless you want chaos, unfortunately.
I've asked you half a dozen times but I'll ask again since you've judged my political choice ...who did you vote for in the last election? Just giving you a tongue tasting test here.
Most everything you post is a complaint or a searing judgement. Yet you never seem to offer suggestions or solutions. All you want to do is spew negativity. By your lights I guess we should all just curl up in a fetal ball and suck our thumbs. If I even get a response, I suspect it will be in the form of a video that fits your narrative......
He's a fucked if we do, fucked if we don't kind of guy. And, he's not all wrong. Less negativity and complaints and more suggestions and solutions would be nice though.
Not to argue with ya, but wouldnt no profit make availability less available, due to less people wanting/willing to push? Addictions are the same regardless of the profit margin, so to me, i would think that addicts would have to go to further lengths to feed their need? I suppose that could go both ways:addicts kicking the habit or addicts breaking more laws to find their substance of choice? Its been my experience, addicts typically do not kick the habit without help, but go to greater lengths to feed the need, potentially driving up crime in other ways? Less dealers means they can jack the price up due to less competition?
To me, he is not wrong though. This two choice bs is feeding both sides, while segregating the masses into drawing a line of battle. We must stop this great two party divide and unit to over come the polarity of today’s society.
We must protect our individual civil rights and democracy...if any other GOP candidate not associated with the MAGA cult were running I'd completely agree. Biden is my last choice as a stop gap but he's the only viable stop gap to protect the seperation of church and state and the rights of women and minorities moving forward. I'm a person who tried the 3rd party vote in 2016 and I just refuse to make that mistake again and it's not for partisan reasons but for a pretty big lesser of two evils vote. Joe doesn't threaten the way of life I identify with as an American but Trump definitely does. It's not divisive because of any ideological loyalty, it's divisive because of a horrible con man that must be held accountable. I'd love to be able to be apolitical again but I have grandkids. Choices must be made in my opinion and I've made mine. Nobody has divided the country more than the GOP over the last decade. Working across the aisle for the betterment of the country is a requirement if you want to have a vote in my government. Stopping funding for the border for partisan talking points in an election year as Trump did is a crime against humanity. Nobody should be voting for that. Conservatives shoulld be happy that Trump stacked the Supreme Court....that was a major victory for them.
Addicts need intervention, they didn't become addicts because of their discipline and will power. I think instead of funneling them into the prison system we should fund rehab centers where they can be supervised to complete getting clean and maybe learn to become a productive member of society again. The program isn't perfect but it can turn some folks around. A lot of sponsors like AA with the 12 step program save a lot of lives. Some junkies are just hell bent on dying the hard way no matter what you do. The cost is tied to the cartels that market the stuff. If it cost what Ibuprofen costs, you wouldn't see such a crime culture around it. You can buy morphine over the counter in many countries that don't have drug problems. You can buy super glue and a paper bag at Home Depot.
The lack of demand drives the price down. The lack of demand comes from having access to actual care rather than trying to self medicate. Look at weed in Oregon. It's dirt cheap now. Why would anybody buy black on market weed? You get better stuff, more conveniently, with no risk. No cartels are moving weed into Oregon.
Forgive me if im wrong, but it wasnt about lack of demand. It was about the lack of dealers or options that i was focusing on. yes, lack of demand drives costs down. But demand must be diminished first and that wasn't the post i responded to. Maybe i misunderstood make drugs valueless? I thought you were saying removing the cartel will reduce drug prices? I think removing the cartel would increase drug prices, because they would be harder to get. I don't disagree that there needs to be more help for the addicted, but without that, prices go up, not down, when options are diminished. Without first diminishing the demand, removing options will drive costs up and make it harder for addicts to get the substance, causing them to go to extreme measures to do so. Just my opinion, based on historical supply and demand of commodities in this country.
Weed isn't dirt cheap due to a diminished demand. Its dirt cheap due to an excess of supply and east accessibility. Dispensaries on every corner. The post i responded to was about removing the supply? prohibition drove the cost and associated crime of alcohol up. Not down. Removing options for drugs does the same thing, no?
The post you were responding to was about making the drugs and treatment people need available legally. Which would increase supply infinitely. Which would reduce demand on the black market. Same thing.
ahh understood. My apologies @riverman. it read to me like you were saying if we remove the sources it would lower the costs. I don't necessarily agree with legalizing all drugs, but do agree we need better resources to help addicts kick the habit and then preventative measures to better educate the youth to avoid them turning to drugs for answers to their problems. Some of this is on the parents and some of it is providing parents with these tools to optimally arm them, to deal with the issues and find other solutions with their kids. getting kids involved in sports and music at an early age has proven to be largely successful in this. I was very saddened to hear my old high school no longer has a music program and had dropped a few sports programs. The continual decrease in funding these programs like debate clubs, fully funded sports programs and music programs, i think, directly correlates to the youth getting involved in the wrong things after school. I do believe these programs must be instilled first, prior to removing the source of drugs or it would be putting the cart before the horse and would likely backfire, much like the legalization of possession of small amounts of drugs somewhat backfired on Portland recently. I think we are generally on the same page.
