Those players would be far better off going to college, IMO. They didn't do a very good job developing Scoot. In fact, I'd say they did a terrible job. Any officially NBA supported alternative to college basketball should result in far more polished players than we've seen. It appears the Ignite were more an obstacle of success rather than a path to it.
I’ve seen the Kidd comp (maybe from you?) and the rebounding and D are a stretch too far?. Though they both had to develop their shot so I can squint and see with the strength, speed combination. Billups? The LAST thing I want to see is Scoot moving to his 2nd or 3rd team and becoming one of them. Scoot has “it.” I did prefer Amen or Ausar, even with their negatives, as I hoped Lillard might stay (nope) and the draft day trade just didn’t happen. Now? I actually have hope.
Fuck that....kid is twenty. He'll get a breather in about 2.5 weeks. He needs to be out there getting trapped by vets.... forced into turnovers and get dunked on! There is no better way to learn than to be humbled! As long as there is somebody there to help him learn from it. He's got a great mentor in Billups.
a better coached 30 minutes for Scoot might be better then hopeless 40 minutes. Billups likes Ashton, he's a scrapper. I think Coach was looking for him in Miami, but the labtop nerds sent Ashton back to the G-League. if Hagans is back on the court in Orlando tomorrow, you owe me a nickle. 5 pennies doesn't count. I want the chrome.
Why not? Do they not work on shooting? Apparently the Ignite don't... He would have almost certainly played more games against comparable competition. That's what he needed.
I remember reading about the Blazers brass being enamored with Amen. I think with the third pick they were kind of forced to take Scoot but really wanted Amen. Who knows though.
Why would he get better prep at those schools? You don’t know, I don’t know. He wasn’t taught anything in the G-League bullshit.
I didn’t say it was ALWAYS a crock of shit. Now that they can make money in college, it’s a crock of shit, which is why it’s gone. Nice try though genius.
I don't know that he would have gotten better. I'm simply saying I'm not impressed with Ignite and I would probably see a red flag on players who choose the Ignite in the future over college or international ball.
Why are you upset. You said IGNITE was a “Crock of shit”….you didn’t say it was SOMETIMES a crock of shit, just that it was a crock of shit. Didn’t you? I simply asked why you felt that way. Didn’t mean to upset you my guy.
I have MANY more examples of players not properly being prepped correctly in college if you want links FAMS.
Absolutely. And if a player came from a college known for that lack of development they'd get a red flag as well. But playing 25 games with a college would at least make him a known qty. We'd know how well he played against that level of competition. Playing on a loaded ignite team left us knowing virtually nothing about him or the quality of competition he played against.
Oh for sure. Agree 100%. I find it hard to believe he'll be a bust. He's got too much talent and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. That's why I blamed Ignite for not having him shoot better or be better with his left. I think he was coachable. But it's just not a good developmental program or he'd be better at those things.
there may only be a couple of people here saying Scoot is a bust but you're acting like it's a majority there are some die-hard Scoot fans. But I think most here know how young he is and that it's going to take time. That said, anybody who claims his rookie season hasn't been a significant disappointment compared to the pre-draft hype and the expectations that hype created is nuts I had kind of bought in to the advocacy of the big Scoot fans. His performance season has been sobering
