While I agree with your overall message, it's FAR from just this place that I hear these sorts of arguments. It drives me up a wall as well when I hear people talk about foul and/or penalty disparities in any sport. It's not the refs job to make sure each team is called for the same number of fouls/penalties, it's their job to make sure that the penalties/fouls being committed are called. That said Ed Malloy is also a pretty terrible referee and has been for quite some time.
only 5 teams have commited more fouls then Portland. The Blazers are most definately hackers. With that being said... every referee is a crook, and they all need glasses. it's my opinion the NBA should switch to A.I. drone referees blowing whistles. Ed Malloy is a crooked ref who has been called out for years and consistently fails to call fouls by opponents on the Blazers. Malloy should not be allowed to ref Blazer games, especially at the Moda Center.
Game changed in the third period - partly because NO was able to get out and run on several clear fouls up top on the ballhandler that went uncalled. I know the game meant nothing, but there's no question Malloy and his crew were terrible.
