Yeah, I mean, like I said, Gerald Wallace and Rudy Gay were good players. Wallace was an All-Star and Rudy could've been one on the right team, right year. Luol Deng, 2x All-Star, is another comparison due to how he slashes to the rim with pure athleticism and off ball movement (which Holland will have a better opportunity to utilize with NBA caliber guards). That's not bad at all. I don't think it's controversial to put him at #5-6 and am surprised at people who discount his talent as lower lottery/non-lottery. But again, the lack of creativity and a more simplistic body control is why I think his game is limited despite having a combination of athleticism, ball handling, and defense. For that, I'd really be surprised if he gets drafted at #3
Aside from maybe Sarr at #1, there aren’t a lot of potentially surprising outcomes for individual players landing in the top 3 this year. holland could absolutely go top 3–he could go 11. There will be no gasp-worthy Anthony Bennett moment this year.
Yeah they have Detroit for the last game of the season so they could definitely win that one, we could lose our next three and we would have a share of 4th in the lotto. Meaning we would split in half the combined likelihoods of every outcome for the 4th and 5th spot in the lotto. If neither us nor the Spurs got one of the top 4 picks then there would be a coin flip that determines who has the higher of the back to back picks. What would be exciting is if the Spurs somehow beat the Nuggets on Friday and the Pistons on Sunday to put us in the 4th lotto spot by ourselves. I don't think that's likely but I do think we might get that split between fourth and fifth.
I was counting on Denver not playing their starters in the second to last game of the season, but Minnesota is still nipping at their feet unfortunately.
Would it make sense to satisfy the owed pick to Chicago for the Blazers to send them the Golden State pick in this years draft?
IMO, only reason that would make sense would be if we were planning to make a trade using multiple future picks. At this stage of the rebuild that seems unlikely, so I would say no, that wouldn't make sense.
I thought someone mentioned how not having the rights to the pick would be in conflict with collecting the Bucks pick in the future. Not sure.
Clingan has the IQ/awareness to be a Gobert-level rim protector. 7’3” w/o shoes 7’7” wingspan I now have him as my #1 target - above Sarr and Topic. Scoot/Sharpe/Clingan is a filthy core to build around.
I saw a comp of him being the next Jakob Poeltl, not Gobert. In the biggest game of the season, Zach Edey put 37/10 on him with 60% FG. A player everyone says has no NBA game. I have no idea who I would want now, but think the best player in the draft can be found at number 7 just as likely as 1 in this draft. Respect your opinion though. Personally I would love to see him go 1, as long as I had 2.
Correct. What happens if we make the Playoffs for the first time and the pick is owed but we get the right to a swap?
It coverts to a 2nd round pick in 2028 if we don’t make the playoffs by then. If we swap our pick in 2028 I’m guessing if it is in the lottery it will convert to a 2nd round pick. If the swapped pick isn’t in the lottery we will send it to them. It’s not that big of a problem imo.
