you keep mentioning Franz in an Ant trade thread let me ask a question, if the Blazers had Franz Wagner and Orlando had Simons, would you trade Wagner for Ant?
Do I already have Banchero in that scenario? What else am I getting besides Ant? Portland's pick? Portland and GS's pick? All of my proposed trades include more than just Ant.
that looks suspiciously like dodging my question but ok, if the Blazers had Franz and 40M in cap-space, would you trade for Ant and Grant? I ask that because I sure wouldn't.
I was not dodging it, I was just pointing out that all my Franz Wagner trade suggestions dating back to last year's draft, included an incentive for Orlando besides just Ant. But to answer your question if I were Orlando I would try first to entice a free agent guard to come to Orlando. That way I am not giving up anything. But if that was unsuccessful then yes I would trade Franz for Ant and Grant. Simons is a hometown boy, and I bet Orlando thinks they could resign him for a fair value in two years. They would also have 3 years to find Grant's replacement. But then I like Ant and you do not so I can see why you wouldn't.
fair enough. And no, I'd keep Franz. I think a dollar is worth more than a couple of quarters...and no, Franz isn't a dollar yet, but I see his value quite a bit higher than 50 cents split two ways
just wait until Grady starts dropping 30's for the Raptors. It's going to be a Dick fiesta in Toronto.
I'd still prefer Sharpe or Scoot become a better player than Ant before we feel the need to offload him. If Ant isn't that good as some appear to feel, then I'd think it wouldn't take those guys very long to prove they are better. Obviously if a great trade is available for Ant, you take it.
I would take the under on Cronin trading anymore FRP's. Joe burned one to get Grant, and accidently deleted one in the CJ trade. Hands off FRP's.
They ain't trading Franz. He's a cornerstone. Best we can probably hope for for Anfernee is filler/expiring contracts and Anthony Black. And I'm the only one on this board that would get excited about that.
Not at all. I was suggesting Isaac & Black for Ant months ago. Of course, we have Banton now, so the appeal is lessened.
If I thought Black was like Banton I wouldn't want him. Like I said: Banton is poor man's Jamal Crawford, and it's evident in his abysmal (even for the Blazers) +/-. I believe Black is going to end up more Shaun Livingston-ish, which I think is a much more valuable type.
Why would they trade Franz? Blazers fans have somehow convinced themselves that this guy is available, lol.
99 % of the players are available for the right price. And no we are not suggesting that Ant alone would be the right price.
I like Franz Wagner AND the Magic have him paired with Banchero, so that’s set. But Franz isn’t excellent, yet. Good? Yes, especially on O. His 3’s took a step back this year, but he’s young. Getting Anthony Black in an Ant trade would be strong for both teams. Black will take time to develop. Ant is plug and play for 20 points at 3 levels. If they’re up for giving Portland an $18.2 TPE in a straight swap, okay. Add some draft capital? Absolutely. If they jettison Jonathan Isaac in his final year, okay. Ant is the better player and athlete. Black is the more natural PG who D’s up more and with size. Fit and need.
That may be, but they are looking to ‘add’ to Banchero and Wagner as the two pillars of their franchise at this point. I would draw a circle around those two.
Yes agree with all of that, and will just add that all 3 can get plenty of minutes together as well as all three are often injured. Hell we had a 4th guard in Brogdon this last year and still had extensive games with scrubs starting.
