That didn't age well. Didn't the Wolves win by 20+?

Not only did it not age well but who really thinks that being present for the birth of your first child doesn't take precedence over your job? No matter what job you have.

sorry about these blurry VHS tape highlights, but i watched Tony Gonzalez rip fools up on the hardwood for the Cal Bears. Tony "chose" the NFL and became one of the best big guy recievers in NFL history.

Rivers is right. His ability to play football has no bearing on it.

Honestly I don't think he is. I think you could find 30 in each sport easily that could make the crossover but in both cases it would take quite a bit of re-training to make the cut. If you are talking starting positions or just making the team you got to remember the NBA actually played Meyers Leonard and Blevins/Thanasis Antetokounmpo. The NBA has it's great players for sure but they don't have anyone taking a position from the greats in the NFL either?
In the end it's a stupid statement.

This seems a bit out of the ordinary? The Cavs are still playing.

Its a stupid statement by Austin Rivers, Watts reply is spot on. Who is even 1 NBA player that would be good in the NFL? Some might say Zion but if he cant stay healthy in the NBA how would he even get through a single game.

Charlie Ward the Knicks old PG for certain could have winning a heismen.

But Terrell Owens won an NBA allstar celebrity game MVP, he was a really big receiver in the NFL but would be a small NBA PG. Both sports actually have very different physical profiles. NBA players are way to skinny and weak in general. NFL players aren't tall enough except linemen that are obviously way too heavy and slow.

It's not like the NFL is lacking athletic players. There are phenomenal athletes that dedicate their lives to football and can't even make the NFL. An NBA player isn't going to be able to just walk up and make it.

Going back, Allen Iverson was the number one option quarterback in the country. Lebron was an all state tight end out of high school. Doesn't mean they would become NFL players but the odds pretty good on those two, and yes, its only two and neither could play today. Just showing there are NBA players that could possibly make the jump in their primes. Conversely, Randy Moss played high school basketball with White Chocolate, Jayson Williams. They were incredible together. Moss was a high flyer.

Just like Bo Jackson yeah there were probably a few incredible athletes in the NBA or NFL that may have had a good career if they chose other sports.

But Austin Rivers comment about 30 current NBA players playing right now in the NFL? No - that's ridiculous. Remember Michael Jordan playing baseball? That was the best NBA player of all time that was a phenomenal athlete. Didn't look very athletic playing baseball though. If MJ had never done it with his very mediocre results people today would be talking about how he could've been an MLB star.

It isn't a 1:1 comparison imo. Jordan wasn't training for Baseball his whole life like MLB players. If he had trained for it, and played it all those years instead of training basketball, I don't think it is a leap to think he could play baseball better than he showed.

Nah... The 'insiders' promoting this message are living in Miami right now.
It seems like we always hear 'rumors' of some star wanting to get to Miami. Same story - different player... most of it is BS.

there's a lot of mechanics that go into a baseball swing. MJ had a good looking rip, but tall players with long basketball arms trying to catch heaters takes a lot of shortcuts. Remember Richie Sexson? His blasts didn't even need a complete follow through. There's not too many 6'6" + hitters that can bat .300 in the bigs. Staying down on the hard stuff is easier when your head isn't scraping the clouds.
