I hope our scouting department has identified a top line guy that is getting slept on because of the draft's reputation.

Why we didn’t build around Holiday is mind boggling.

Dude is going to be 34 next month - would have been insane for our 21 win team to try and keep him.

Now why the Bucks did the trade, sending out a proven two way guy who won them a title, and gave up 3 years of their drafts is the questionable decision.

Jrue Holiday is excellent for the Celtics. He was done a solid. His age of 33 is not an issue for them. In contrast, the Blazers (IMHO) need to hit twice in this draft by bringing in talent that doesn’t need to be excellent right away — suck next season and hit again. Rushing the end of sucking only lengthens future mediocrity (aka, purgatory of the play-in).

This pick has little value I would venture to guess. Allegedly Portland couldn't get value last year for the third pick in a three player draft.

The Lakers don't have pick 17. It goes to New Orleans.

New Orleans can and probably will defer that pick.

If that's the case and they can move 3 picks, I'm guessing 2024, 2029 and 2031? I'd think if Lebron stays they would be interested in Simons or Grant. They have Hachimura and Gabe Vincent for salaries.

They aren't giving up 3 picks for Simons or Grant lol. They're probably thinking of Donovan Mitchell, etc.

I didn't say they would. Was just throwing out potential pieces and players they may be interested in.

Hachimura blows. I'd rather keep Simons

That's because 5:30 PM is the time when we've finally come off the high of getting the #1 pick this year.

‘Ugh we’re probably gonna get #1 in a horrible draft’

    <gets #6>

‘ok sorta wish we had #1.’

I just don't understand this thought process. Getting the best player right now in this draft would not change our prospects next year. The Blazers will still not be a good team. They will still be a lotto team next year.
If you are talking about money? You simply pay the rookie salary and then offer what they are worth. If they are not worth the QO on their 4th year then don't offer it.
If the Blazers get a #1 and he ends up growing into a great player you got a great player.
Hand wringing about the team having to pay $10 million as opposed to lets say $6 million which is where they will most likely end up seems like worrying about chicken feed for what the team will be paying out. We are talking about the difference of 12 million over 3 years.

Edit- The percentage increase slides on a scale. Nobody is forced to make the QO.
