Again, he is not my pick at 7, but the fact that he was the focus of their offense meant the other teams were focused on stopping him.....and they couldn't. I feel better about that than someone who shot well because he was the 3rd option on a team.

He does have "connecting" type skills as well since he was also asked to play the point at times. Not that those skills are good enough to play PG in the NBA but for a wing....not bad. As for his D, I agree he is no Dan Majerle, but on offense he is a much better mid range shooter.

The reason I would not take him at 7 is because to me he is more of a guard than a SF....and I prefer to swing for the fences on a forward. I would take Buzelis, Williams, and Holland over him.

I'm not mad about any of those. Buzelis and Holland can't shoot and G-League Ignite seems to make players worse than when they arrived (Houston's Green is only just recovering) and Williams is worryingly delicate and doesn't rebound. I don't want any of those 4 at 7, to be honest. I'd go with Topic just because I think he has greater star potential than all of the above. Or Salaun because he's bigger and hasn't been tainted by the G-League.

(Buzelis, I'm pretty sure, will be gone by 7. I'm scared of Holland - he strikes me as being Thomas Robinson level possible disappointment.)

I am not convinced that Buzelis "can't shoot". Yes his 3 pt stats sucked last year, but he did shoot it well in HS and his shooting stroke looks just fine. Your point about the G-league Ignite is more of a positive than a negative to me. Young players can rebound from that one year with them. They did not ruin them forever.

We better hope so, for Scoot's sake.

Buzelis is probably my first choice of the ones you listed, but, again, he's a lock for the top six.

It looks that way because of the reported Detroit ties. But if they elect to go another way, I don't see Charlotte being the best fit for him. He could slip. The key for us will be Clingan. We need him to go in the top 6 along with one other player besides
    Sarr, Risacher, Sheppard, Castle .

History is littered with unskilled plodding bigs who busted soon after getting drafted in the top 10.

Clingan isn't the type of big who is worth moving up for.

Please let Washington take him 2 and forget about this guy.

Yeah I've heard the Bogut comps, but it's a much slower version of Bogut and less offensive skill.

Just not sure Bogut would be near as impactful in today's game let alone 10 years from now when Clingan peaks. Center was a very different position in 2005.

That's fine for a team needing a role player now for the playoffs. Blazers aren't there and won't be for many years so this type of player is nearly irrelevant to them.

    1. Any player that will make it less likely that we get blown out by 60 again is a good choice.
    2. A bust is even less relevant to the Blazers. You want to get stuck paying Anthony Bennett for the length of a rookie contract? A player that is of use to ANY team is of use to us because, apart from anything, you can then TRADE HIM FOR VALUE.

I'm happy to be proved wrong, but Holland screams bust to me.

Actually other than Wemby and Miller, last year's top 7 could still be busts too. I mean Scoot could still be a bust as could the Thompson twins if none of them improve their shooting. Sure they will still have long careers...... but from off the bench. Anthony Black and Bilal Coulibal round out the top 7. Who knows about them.

I’m hoping we get Ware at 14. Clingan doesn’t excite me at all.

Or maybe we just use a 2nd round pick on a center. I would check out Dante's medical report and if it looks good I would take him and his 7'5.5 wingspan (and 9'5 standing reach) at 40.

Wade screams Christian Wood. What are his defensive numbers?

Sorry, corrected it to Ware. Is there a Wade in the draft or do you think Ware compares to Wood? Isn’t the biggest knock on Wood that he’s toxic?

What ended up happening to him? I know there was something going on with his eligibility and the NCAA. Is he declaring?

His appeal was denied yesterday...so yes he is in the draft.

It's hard to get exited about a 5th year senior but he is still only 22 and when you look at those numbers, 17.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.7 steals in 31.4 minutes and his measurables, 7’5.5 wingspan and 9’5 standing reach , one wonders.....
I don't know if this is a positive or a negative: "Still learning the game, figuring out where to be on the court and which rotations to make on D."
His raw numbers are better than Clingan but he played almost ten minutes a game more. TRB% Clingan 19.7, Dante 17.3. BLK% Clingan 11.7 to Dante 6.6 but Steal % Dante 3.2 to Clingan's 1.42
