I thought Monty was a great assistant in Portland, and always liked hearing him speak. Also feel for him with his first wife dieing in a car wreck and him having what 5 kids? Then second wife gets cancer last year.

But it does seem like he has had an issue connecting with certain players as a head coach now on multiple teams.

Has there ever been a coach on a 5 year guaranteed contract being let go after 1 season? I can't remember this ever happening.

At least he's had proven success somewhere. Billups on the other hand...

The Magic are now co-favorites with the Warriors to sign Klay Thompson, per @DKSportsbook:
    Orlando = +130
    Golden State = +130
Vegas is buying the buzz around Thompson potentially leaving for Orlando. pic.twitter.com/TwDk8uDY5D3:38 PM

If they get Klay doubt they'd be interested in Ant trades.

Could just be Klay/agent using them to get Warriors cash.

But anytime there are betting odds I take notice - those are by far the most predictive indicator.

Portland wants Orlando to be used by Klay and miss out. That way they can over spend on bringing their native son home.

So this is the number 1 pick next year. Look at how he moves for being 7-9. By the way he isn't done growing yet.

"Both general manager Rafael Stone and head coach Ime Udoka are fans of veteran guard Marcus Smart, league sources said. Is there a possibility Memphis could entice Houston by offering Smart in addition to the No. 9 pick and future assets, to move up and grab Clingan if he isn’t already gone? Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht, who has fans within the Rockets organization, could be available if Houston were to move back."
    – via New York Times

Why the hell would Houston want Smart? Boston was wise to get rid of him. Memphis seems ready to get rid of him. And they already have Brooks...who also is not a reliable shooter.

Udoka seemed to like him when they were both in Boston?

You never know for sure, but it seems inevitable that he will have more than his fair share of injuries/health issues.

JJ Redick is the new Lakers HC -- interesting but will he be just another in a long line of puppets for King James to manipulate ??

Hollywood got their coach. No more trendy hot topic podcasts for JJ. The Lakers supposedly plan to add the mostest & bestest superior assistant coaches around Redick, so he can perform brilliantly in his first year as head coach. Basically... LeBron & AD will goof off, and take it easy for a bunch of games. JJ will be stuck coaching the kids for ~half the year.

    Over/Under: Lakers make the playoffs

I'm not a betting guy, but I might take the under. Rockets,Warriors, Grizzlies could bump Showtime basketball down a notch. Long season, we'll find out.
