Obviously it'd be great if he turns into another Giannis, but at 7 -- in a draft that doesn't have star power, getting a Chandler Parsons would be a success. Moreover, as far as how he plays -- which is what the context of your response seemed to be addressing -- he's 18 with a ton of natural athleticism, his game could still be shaped in any number of different ways depending on coaching, scheme, physical and mental development, etc.

All I'm saying is I wouldn't get too hung up on specific player levels or styles with a raw 18 year old. Knecht? Sure.

 

Who is Colton? Interesting that two different guys have Sarr and Risacher rated a lot lower than the mocks. And this guy has Dante rated #21!

Was excited for the thought of Sarr at #7 until I saw Risacher is right after him at #8!

I'd try and find a way to get #8 and snatch up both. Rupert could lead the trio on a team France recruit of Wemby in 3 years which is only returning the favor for LMA.

 

Hard to know especially in a draft like this. Paul Pierce and Caron Butler were both thought of going top3 then slid to #10.

If it's not a smokescreen and we trade up to draft a dude that plays a quickly disappearing brand of basketball at the NBA level, I'll be very disappointed.

If he's there at 7 and we take him.... fine... whatever. Not gonna love it but it's fine.

But if we trade up to get him, I'm gonna be annoyed.

 

Why is that??? Dude was sixth man of the year one season ago and played really well when we wanted him to for us. I understand the notion that Robert Williams will have to play himself back into having value but Malcolm's should be around that of a decent starter on any team... or sixth man of the year type which almost always means a guy playing starter's minutes.

 

Define squat. The guy is on an ending contract, 1 year removed from being the 6moy. I find it hard to believe that a playoff team, or a team who thinks they could be a playoff team would not give up something for a PG who has size, can defend, and can score.

a late 1st seems reasonable. Maybe we have to wait for a team who is desperate because of an injury.

 

Clingan could be a useful interesting backup center.

 

Well then keep him until the deadline and see if we can at least get our pick back from Chicago or more. If not then keep him and consider giving him a new contract next summer. Dude was our most effective player on the court last year. I'm all for getting a pick back but if he has "squat" as value then just keep him here he's probably the best PG we've had since Andre Miller (and Dame obviously). Brogdon might even be a bit better than Miller.

We should just shop all our vets; Brogdon/Grant/Ayton/Simons/Thybulle/Timelord... and trade any that have a good return right now. Any that don't have a trade market are fine to keep next year, their all good guys to have on the team.

The league knows he's very effective - only hiccup I could see with Brogdon is if he has a medical thing. Sounds like he is going to play in the Olympics so if he looks good there it might help.

 

A mock is an estimate of what pick each team will make.

A big board is a pure ranking of players - has nothing to do with what team is in what draft spot or team position need, etc.

An extreme example is lets say the 4 best ranked players are all centers - they would be 1-4 on the big board. But lets say all teams in the top7 don't want centers - the centers would be mocked at picks 8,9,10,11

 

I get it - some teams will draft bpa but others according to need. It seems like some of the differences that I'm seeing are pretty extreme. Like Sar drafting at 1 or 2 but down to 7 on the big board.

 

He's had injuries in the past but we babied every injury this season and made up a bunch of them in the name of tanking. I think teams know that Malcolm was never severely injured this last season. He was just the most effective two way player on a team that didn't want to be effective.

Sarr is by far the best player as of now and has the best projection.
Handles the ball and as fluid as any 7 footer ever.
There is nobody else in the draft like that
