DaSilva would not be a bad piece to receive in a deal for Ant.

Knecht makes more sense on the Lakers than here, we don't need a poor defensive old limited player but they could use some shooting now.

I'd rather have us just get the picks unprotected or a second pick or unprotected swaps or something.

I know he can't shoot, but Ausar with Clingan and Advija would help instill a new defensive identity that I so desperately want.

The draft happened yesterday, why are people throwing out Knecht, DaSilva, etc proposals for players already drafted?

Its beyond extremely rare to see players just drafted traded prior to the season, basically only happens when its for a star such as Wiggins for Love. Can you give a single example of it happening?

Camara was drafted and traded shortly after the draft last season. I'm not sure the Blazers are interested in anymore prospects from this draft though.

    Old...

Shooters off the bench have value to all types of teams, and though Knecht certainly isn't good at defense, I think he does have the size and athleticism to be at least passable defensively at the 2. I don't really want him as a forward, but as a backup to Sharpe (especially if we trade Ant), I think he'd be a good piece to have as part of the rebuild.

Was there really a deadline when he traded Dame? He didn't have to trade him at all.
He was aggressive yesterday by trading two picks and Brogdon.
We might all want everything wrapped up in a nice little package with a bow on it, but it doesn't work that way. At the very least we have all of July. I don't see the rush.

Training camp was the organizational deadline and Dame was traded a couple days prior.

It was to avoid the circus and spectacle of Dame at media day/ etc and that going into camp then the season.

Now there are no similar deadlines for the Blazers until February.

So you're confident that Joe will not make any trades until February? My guess is you would not wager real money on
that theory. If you would keep me in mind. I take Venmo.

I am hoping to take a flyer on either Furphy, Smith, or Flipowski
    Who else at 34?

I never said that. I really don't have enough insight to bet either way. I responded to a quote that said its a matter of "When" not if the next trade happens. I really have no idea what to think of this front office.

Do they want to win now with Grant or other vets?
Did Simons end of season comments of being sick of losing or Joe not naming him yesterday mean anything?
Do they want to move on from Ayton?
Do they prioritize youth/picks or a win now player?

Track record on Joe closing a non deadline deal is just extremely infrequent, so yeah that would lead me to suspect we might not have any other move until the season. I think the broad consensus on this board seems to be that Joe is going to do one or more trades soon so I was just pushing back on that a bit as I think fans are underestimating the likelihood we stand pat with the roster as is.

Does anyone have the exact quote of the questions asked to Cronin before that? I can't remember if it was a question(s) more about developing our players which would make sense he singled out a Scoot/Sharpe response. He mentioned Ayton from a direct question about him. I don't think he mentioned Grant or others either.

Fair enough...... but I feel like just two summers of Joe is not enough to suggest he has a "track record"
Each summer has different needs. And GMs, much like players, do improve as they get more experience.

I'm hoping we flip both our 2nd for multiple future 2nds. We lost two in the Wizards trade so we're nearly out of them. This draft sucks, and we may have much more use for them in future years if we are up against the luxury tax.

Yeah, Flip is supposedly a 4/5 so I guess he could work.

I like Smith. He's another big swing player so I think he could make a lot of sense.

    Would you do this trade?

I'm looking at Dallas and I'm just not seeing it. They don't have any draft capital....

Dallas can trade 2025 (NYK pick debt was paid yesterday) and 2031 both completely unprotected - I'd do that deal.
