    Why not do both?
Keep the Avdija trade & do what Spurs did at 8.
    Best if both worlds

Yeah, just like Kenny Lofton Jr. dominates Wemby here:

I guess KLJr should've gone before Wemby, huh?

HOW IS HE AT SETTING PICKS? Because if he's even half decent then all our guards will love him.

That has been talked about as being one of his strengths. Also instead of pick and pop or roll they are saying he can work well as the hub passing out of the post very well.
Those are the things that got him a higher draft position than Edey.

That's silly, since those are also things that Edey does very well.

Yeah that is a very interesting hypothetical, I'd certainly much rather have the 2031 unprotected Wolves pick and 2030 swap than the 2029 pick we sent Washington. So in your hypothetical we still would've upgrade our picks and got a starting level young player.

I'm still against the Avdija trade because I value that 2029 pick and I don't think Avdija 3pt improvement is a going to be sustained. But if I'm wrong and his 3pt shooting does stay up there it will be a good trade. Could even be a great trade if Avdija makes further improvements. Seems unlikely but with a 24 year old you never know.

If Clingan becomes Gobert level then of course he will be better than trading the pick. So like anything involving the draft picks/young players the outcome can vary greatly and be a great choice or horrible choice depending on what happens in the following years.

In general the Blazers are many years away from contending and don't have a star to build around so we should be targeting future picks or stars or assets to later add those final players once we get a star. We should not be adding players with limited upside of a role player like Clingan/Avdija at this time - so that is why I wouldn't have done either of these moves.

He won the year before, from that team, 1 guy was drafted at #14 and one guy in the 2nd round. From this year, Castle (which was not on the team the year before) was drafted in the lottery with him. Not sure who else is there. It is clear that UConn had a better team, but it is also true that they have not won it all since 2014, he arrives there, spends 2 years there, and they won both years. His coach said that he anchored both the offense and defense of this championship team, so there is something to be said that he was a (big) part of these championships... even if he lost the head to head on an individual basis to a player older and more experienced than him.

No actually the things I read on Edey were that he could improve his ability to pass out of the post and make plays better for others? That he tends to try to carry the load himself. I think that was more about the team and system he was playing on and not so much a knock on him.

Would he post that if he read the "Clingan" thread?
It's really not a loaded question.

I'd hope athletes read very little of whats out on social media/message boards/etc about themselves... can't imagine that would be helpful.

As a fellow Blazers fan, I understand the big man injury trepidation. However, he's missed a total of 5 games in 2 seasons at UConn. He played 74 out of 79 college games. Could the foot injuries be a concern? Maybe.. But It's not like he's coming into the NBA as an injury prone Center. In fact, if this wasn't Portland (and our history with big men) I don't think this would even be thought about.
