A fair point, but not one that says Banton wouldn't do the same thing. When someone can do whatever they want, they tend to do whatever they like or are most comfortable with. Banton is far and away more comfortable shooting, and that seems to have been the case even before he came to Portland.

Again, that's not saying he doesn't have a place in this year's rotation or even running the offense on occasion, but I think putting the ball in the hands of a guy who seems so like to look for his own shot for a third of the game will hurt the flow of our offense and development of our other players. To me, Banton's your backup 2 or 3. I want a guy who consistently looks to involve all five players as the backup PG.

Yes. I think there probably were conversations about Advija's game and the obstacles to improving versus those of Williams, Buzelis, Holland and Salaun and the cost of acquiring him versus the cost of trading up to get a shot at any of those four draft prospects.

Advija, as is, already probably is better than at least two of those four draftable players ever will become. His all-around game is more present than any of those four. I suspect that's what they were looking at when the decision was made to pull the trigger here ... the Blazers thought trading all of this got them the best prospect of the five players and also got them under the cap. The question now is if Advija hits enough to be worth the assets we relinquished to get him, because I don't think, in this draft, it would have cost that much to move up from 14 to 8, and the assets we'd have saved could have been used in another way.

Yeah, I couldn't help but think about Sheed when I first read about the trade. Not saying he is as good, just that he was the type of player we needed to steal from a team. Someone good but has not quite blown up. I could care less about the future draft pick.
It was an aggressive move that everyone was asking for.

I said basically. It wasn't meant to be a complete list. We tossed out a good chunk of the assets netted from those two trades, essentially letting go of two superstars for one hopeful up and comer.

I don't count Ayton as part of the Dame trade, as he was Nurkic + Grayson Allen, and I'm sure we could have found another way to pry Allen loose (or someone else of comparable value to Phoneix, since they didn't even know that's who they were getting). His value wasn't crazy high.

What a load of crap from Pelton. Nobody expected Knecht to fall to 14. Some had him going as high as 5 to Detroit. So comparing Avdija to Knecht is pretty disingenuous. The trade happened hours before the draft.

The Blazers paid a penalty to offload salary. Getting under the LT and the first apron gives Joe a lot more wiggle room moving forward.

Yup, but the penalty was a pocket full of loose change.

My guess is, 2-3 years from now. This consolidation trade will look like a bargain.

I decided to wait to make any comment so I could look into him since I heard the name before but will not lie I could not have picked him out of a lineup before tonight and the Wiz were the last team anyone wanted to watch. I think this is a very good trade and this screams of Batum 2.0 for the Blazers and honestly that is a very good thing. This team needs players like this IF it's to ever become a factor in the playoffs and be mentioned as a contender in the future since he is a solid shooter and a pretty good rebounder and borderline elite defender -- check ,check and check. These are all things this team needs and badly needs and I would say right now he is no doubt this team's best defender and it's not even close ( excluding Clingan since he a rook ). Now the price that the Blazers paid was it a lot sure it was but it was worth it but the Blazers must get good assets when it trades it's vets ( Grant , Thybulle and Ant (?) ) but it was not too much. If the Blazers still suck in 29' then this team has more issues then a trade from the end of the 24' season and that is a fact. If I was to give this trade a grade I would give it a A minus but I will concede in a stronger draft this would have been half a grade lower ( B plus maybe B )

I looked through this topic and this video has not been posted it's the season highlights of him from this season and its 8 minutes long -- Enjoy

Here's how I look at it:
If Deni is our FotFuture, then the trade amazing. If not, not so much.

    Basically ditto for Clingan.

What I'm hoping is that Scoot, Sharpe, Deni, Clingon (intentionally spelled wrong) are starting for us 4 years from now.

Saw this and he knew a lot of teams wanted Deni and didn't want to give him up. Imagine him seeing that Deni got traded for Malcolm Brogdon.

Fair enough. But when the team was over the luxury tax from Joe's stupid move last year - its just a poor strategic way to go about a rebuild.

We got Simons and Ayton eligible for extensions next month so I hope we don't continue this one step forward two steps back approach.

Agreed with the first part, yeah if Avdija can continue his above average 3pt shooting this will be an amazing trade. I'm concerned most projections show that shooting as an outlier season and not an upward trend though.

If Clingan and Avdija are AVERAGE starting level players or better then both of these moves will be great. Just having them start for the Blazers at some point, (possibly because our roster sucks and we have no other decent options) isn't exciting though.
