I don't think these guys will be on the 15 man roster so I would go for upside. Christie is so young, would definitely consider him. * Really good off the dribble shooter with very good percentages * Good athlete * Great foundation as a shot creator off screens and off the dribble * Has some off the dribble rim pressure upside * Flashed some nice defensive tendencies * Great shooter * Solid defense and driving * Known for his great skill on the court, including scoring, passing, and defending * Versatility to play multiple positions, giving coaches flexibility * Youth and potential for development with room for improvement and growth * Strong competitive mindset driving him to work hard and face challenges on the court
Isn't this going to be more exciting than yesterday? Once Atlanta passed on Clingan, it was pretty sure Portland would be getting him and then, that was it.
Furphy would be another young guy with upside. Hope to get him or Christie, For a bigger guy, Klintman or maybe Bona or Tyler Smith? Mogbo is a little older but he really looks good and why couldn't he continue to get better?
I want one of Bona, Klintman, Smith or Chomche with one of our picks. All seem like high upside swings.
Both Mogbo and Bona have problems shooting FT's. And Smith seems to have trouble making the correct decision quickly on defense.
Could Bona ever develop a Zion type game. Says he has good hands and Shows a quick first step from the perimeter on occasional drives inside. There’s a chance he will develop a solid face-up game, especially if he’s able to develop a jumper. Although he is already 21.
At this point, everyone that's still available still is available for a reason. If Mogbo is Draymond Lite, would you mind the FT shooting issues? If Bona is the second coming of Montrezl Harrell, would you mind the FT shooting? The three questions you have to ask yourself are: 1. Are they a positional or skill/trait fit for the Blazers? In other words, is there something they do or project to do that is different or better than all but maybe one other current player on the roster that the Blazers need in their plan for the future? 2. Does what they do well offset what they don't do well? 3. Are the things they don't do well correctable, improvable or able to be mitigated?
Well, which guys do you think might fit and have some special skill that offsets their weakness and/or might be correctable?
I wish I could give you a good answer to that. I can't because I think it probably depends on what they have cooking with some of the vets they might be looking to move or what direction they're planning to take the team. In other words, what they do today probably will tell us more about the Blazers over the next three years than the Blazers roster going into the second day of the draft tells us about who they're going to pick.
I am curious to know if the "I'm not willing to take a two-way contract" will actually play a factor here. I'd rather it didn't and simply figure out who we might need to trade or cut later, but it's possible.
People write about the Spurs as if Pop's immortal and will just take all these young players and duplicate what they had with Duncan, Parker and Ginobili. First, they aren't Duncan, Parker and Ginobili individually or as a group. Second, the odds that Pop will be coaching them even when they are close to putting it all together is infinitesimal, and whoever succeeds Pop won't be Pop.
If I was to put money down on what the Blazers do in a few hours it would be this ... We keep one pick and either trade out or down with the other -- I think the Blazers have a target (s) and if that player (s) are not there then they are getting out of that spot. IF / When I am wrong and they take both picks then be prepared for trades even though we know they already were prolly going too IF they take both then odds for multiple trades go WAY WAY up.
I think that's likely. The other option being they draft one guy they like and then draft another they can stash overseas.
