Hell yes. I doubt they give up 3 picks for Grant though

They wouldn't give us that many picks and they would want us to draft and trade them Bronny with one of our seconds.

I'd certainly do this but I doubt the Lakers do it. Grant isn't worth 3 FRP. I'd let them keep Knecht he has way more value to them than us.

I'd certainly do it for both the 2029 and 2031 picks unprotected. I doubt the Lakers would do that either. If they only offer one and lets say a 2030 swap I'd probably eventually do it instead of bringing Grant back to camp. But I'd go through the league and see if any team could beat that first.

Actually a good point.... if we see the Blazers draft Bronny early today probably means a trade is coming.

The rights to Knecht would likely be included in an actual deal. Lakers send out Rui, Knecht, Vincent, and maybe a future first for Grant, Reath, and the rights to Bronny.

Ugh, I kind of despise trade proposals like this one, which very clearly way overestimate Grant's value. I don't think there is a chance at all you get Knecht, Rui, and two future firsts (even protected) from Lakers for Grant. Honestly, it's frustrating because if/when a trade does actually occur that is perhaps much more balanced, everyone freaks out because their expectations were simply set beyond the realm of reasonability.

    Exact quotes in bold.

"Joe you said after that moment of celebration wears off it turns to what's next and what else you're trying to do here. What's next and what are you trying to do here?" Reporter asks

Joe answers, "Yeah so tomorrow, go through the second round. We have two picks there 34 and 40 which are pretty good picks. So obviously we'll get that accomplished and figure that portion of, you know, the next step in the process figured out. Beyond that get into the off season and still look for ways to get better. I mean, like I said we've got to continue to build this talent base and you know we're committed to Scoot and Shaedon being a massive part of what we're doing and how do we find ways to, you know, give them the support they need and make them better and maximize their development. So it's continually seeking players that we can add to this roster that we can grow with and build together with."

That's it. No actual question that prompted Joe to only mention Scoot and Shaedon as the future of this franchise. The next question was a good one to follow up.

Reporter said, "In that you're committed to this young nucleus, is it likely that some of the older guys might get moved?"

Joe answers, "I don't know if I'd say likely, I think throughout this whole off season I've been open minded, again with the mindset that we need to get better and I think in some ways we need to get different. So I think my goal is just to really work the phones and be open minded and be opportunistic about, you know, finding players that can help us in not just the short term but the long term and I think you'll see that theme with some of our additions, that we are looking at putting a runway here that where these guys can be really good for, hopefully a long time and just trying to find guys that fit that mold."

Personally I think Joe saying that first phrase of "I don't know if I'd say likely..." was pure bullshit because everything he said afterwards sounded like they're going to be very active during the rest of this off season and we have fourteen players under contract right now and I don't think the 34th pick is usually one that goes on a two way but regardless, we don't have the roster spots available to be active like everything after "I don't know if I'd say likely..." sounded like Joe wants to be. So I think we can expect a trade or two and I think leaving Ant out of that statement that he just volunteered is pretty telling that Ant will be on his way out just because who else do you need to move to clear the runway for Scoot and Shae?

He also said earlier in the presser that (paraphrasing) they'd been really active on the phones and planted a lot of seeds. I still think that means they have deals in place with multiple teams if those teams don't get the top tier free agents that they want. Last year it was Ant and Jerami are our best players every time we heard Joe speak and due to the fact Joe decided to declare Scoot and Shaedon our future and leave Ant conspicuously out, I think that means Ant is probably close to a lock to be traded. I think Jerami is also very likely to be traded. In the past Joe has identified the first week of free agency as an area where you can get the most things done so we're not too far from finding out.

Okay, let me ask you a question then. What are the Lakers gonna do?

    LeBron is 40.
    AD is 31.

They won 47 games last year, which was 8th in the west. How do they improve that team? The window might already be closed for them. How many more years can LeBron play at a high level? And who else is out there? What other borderline All-Star level players are on the market? Yes, it's an overpay. They don't have a choice. They have to overpay for someone because their team isn't good enough to win a title right now.

The Nets just got 5 first rounders and swaps for Bridges. Obviously Grant isn't anywhere near as good as Bridges, but we just sent 2 first rounders to the Wizards AND Brogdon for Avdija. So is it so outrageous that Grant could be worth two firsts and Dalton Knecht, plus filler?

I left out two more you knows because they were super quick and under his breath. Yeah those are his filler words. He ums a little too but again those aren't usually part of a quote.

Lakers will surely try to trade a pick to win now. But I highly doubt they consider any idea like unload 3 picks for Grant - theres many teams in the league that would give them a better player(s).

The thing that could block the Lakers from trading any picks is if they don't think the resulting team will contend. Then it makes more sense to just run it back and see how the year is going, possibly make a move during the season or even pivot to trading Davis away and rebuilding.

I think we'd likely flip Rui and Vincent depending on what other trades we would make and who we take at 34. I really think there are good players left in this draft so I don't think pick 34 will be a two way.

Maybe us also including last year's #23 pick would be more balanced though...? :D

Still prefer to try to deal him to Indy for Jarace Walker, if a deal there can be made.

I think if we were drafting Bronny for LA it would be with 40.

That's fine. I'd want at least 2 picks from them.

I wonder how Avdija would feel about a reunion with Hachimura?

While it would make sense to not trade future firsts being as close as they are to having to rebuild after Lebron retires, there will always be someone willing to be the next star in LA. They can do a lot of rebuilding through FA.
