Who should Democrats hope steps up? Who is the next best candidate? I don’t think the man we saw up these debating tonight can beat Trump and I swore I’d never say that…. This is scary.
Basically they need Biden to step down?

 

The money we send overseas isn't preventing us from helping our people.

We have more than enough money we're wasting on for profit healthcare and other scams thatwe could be logically spending to help these people.

 

My conspiracy theory is that they gave him bad drugs to look horrible so they could replace him because he was going to lose.

We know Biden is religious about his drugs before a debate. There's no way this was his usual cocktail.

Gavin Newsome is the guy I said would be the nominee 6 months ago.

I didn't watch it but I seriously doubt Biden would have disappointed me. My expectations of him are so low.

I think Democrats have been hoping he would just die. Or maybe get elected first and then die.

It has felt like a mistake basing the nation's hopes on this guy for a long time. That said, the Democrats don't appear to be immediate threats to democracy. Biden had a far superior cabinet than Trump.

I have no faith in either Biden or Trump to do the right thing. I think Trump will try to f*** us every way he possibly can. And he'll have a cabinet that will help him do it.

I'm going to vote Biden because of his cabinet, and because I just don't think he is as evil as Trump. And obviously the state of the union is much better under Biden than it was under Trump.

But we need to do a better job. We need real candidates for the next presidential election.

 

CNN allowed Trump to become moderator. Not only not calling out clear obvious lies, but letting him give stump speech rather than answer questions. You can't have nice things because ___ is taking everything. In Germany it was Jews. Reagan and others blamed Black "welfare queens". For Trump it's illegal immigrants getting social security even though they don't and living in luxury hotels. Lies and hate are all he has.
And every headline is Democrats panic.
Funny how Republicans never panic. They know their candidate is liar, cheat, convicted felon and that's what they want.

the left was already going to vote for Joe. what the debate did was possibly shift the middle undecided voters away from Biden. The left might not still vote for Trump, but Biden did not help himself gain in undecided voters last night. It all comes down to7 swing state votes.

 

I'll put it in a simpler way for you then.

The guy that "can't form sentences" still showed a far better grasp of the things a president needs to be able to do than Trump. What does that say for Donald Trump? He looked better losing to a guy who you said is too cognitively impaired to be president, but Trump still lost on policy, demeanor and grasp of the issues, just as he lost on the metric of what each accomplished in their terms in the office.

Trump lost to the guy you say shouldn't be president, ergo Trump is completely unable to be president, either.

 

We need, the country needs, the world needs, the honest, balanced, levelheaded leadership skills of Amy Klobuchar.

 

As has been pointed out, one guy shouldn't be president but the other CANNOT be president. Biden isn't running against Theodore Roosevelt or Dwight Eisenhower or even George W. Bush. He's running against a pathologically-lying, incompetent narcissist who accomplished nothing in his term as president, incited a riot to try to stop the peaceful transition of power, failed in the worst way possible during COVID and has promised to suspend the mechanisms that have governed our country for 250 years should he regain office.

This isn't rocket science.

People literally are more upset over Biden looking old than his opponent lying every time he spoke and appearing to be living in a completely different reality. Trump post on substance to a guy who Trump supporters say can't form a sentence. Let that sink in. Trump debated a guy who looked terrible and still lost on a discussion of the issues. All he showed was the ability to be an energetic liar.

 

After a night's insomnia (my bathroom is clean, what I do when can't sleep) two conclusions.
Biden has been considered down for the count before and come back. It's a missed opportunity. Not a mass tragedy.
Biden is first and last an institutionalist. If he steps aside it will only be for Vice president Harris as outlined in the constitution. Newsom, Whitmer, possibly Klobuchar but not Michelle Obama could run in 2028 but there will be no infighting this year.
I admit to being a bit intrigued by Harris she would certainly unite Democratic base. And Trump gets unglued by powerful women, especially women of color. But unfortunately even now there is a significant minority who will not vote for a woman. Fucked but true.

 

Since this is a Blazers forum, I'm going to put this into a Blazers analogy.

Andre Miller was a productive point guard who accomplished a lot but didn't necessarily look good doing it. He got replaced by Raymond Felton who had a more orthodox style but had a variety of more substantive issues that made his performance measurably below that of Miller.

Biden is Andre Miller and Trump is Raymond Felton. But people are advocating not playing Miller over Felton because Damian Lillard is better.

 

Trump's polling numbers were falling until the democreeps started the judicial persecution. Then they run the Tales from the Crypt guy against him. They handed him a 2nd term on a silver platter.

 

Oh, come on. Trump being convicted for breaking the law is because Trump broke the law, not because of politics.

If we're going to suspend the rule of law, it can't just be for who we want as our presidential candidate.

 

Nope. We've been over all those cases before. They are all BS cases for multiple reasons. Manfactured "crimes" which would have never been brought if not for the political motivation.

I'm just observing things as a third party. Democrats keep talking about "threats to democracy" and miss the threats right in front of their faces. The Anti-Maga movement is a much bigger issue than MAGA.

 

I'm used to voting against the candidates but Joe made that even more painful last night unfortunately
