So get a 2nd round pick? We just sold two for cash. I don't see the point. Timelord is not fetching a FRP right now. If he comes back and is healthy and playing he might be worth a FRP. That's the reason we should keep him, and roll the dice he is recovered. There is upside but little cost.

If Timelord gets hurt again and we're stuck with him it's not much different then getting that haul of a second round pick.

I am not going to lie I was kind of pissed off that the Blazers walked in with 3 picks and only drafted one specially since they have a G-league team. However before I go off on Cronin and company will wait and see what happens cause they might have a trade or two in the works or something. The thing is if training camp starts and all we have done is pretty much run it back outside of Clingan and Avdija and maybe doing a minor trade or release of Banton and/or Reath will be kind of upset and raging at a certain GM so my norm - LOL

I have a feeling that if Orlando strikes out in free agency, I suspect that’s where Ant is going.

I would expect at least one more trade after free agency clears and team do or don't get who they want, i.e. Paul George.

I highly doubt him playing a handful of games is going to prove to anyone he can stay healthy for a full season.

Even if you play him up until the trade deadline…

    1) I’m not convinced that proves he is healthy enough to play a full season
    2) I’m not convinced he won’t break before then

So we are back to my original point…

I have a feeling it's gonna be Simons and maybe Timelord. I don't think they're in a hurry to get rid of Grant. They wait until Orlando strikes out on Klay and then Simons is the best option.

I would be shocked if Orlando is not also in the KCP talks. Might be the best option for them, shoots 3s, defends. He made $15m last year, if I am Orlando, I am offering him what Ant makes for 2-3 years - he is a better option than either Ant or Klay, imho. I believe they have around $20m available to spend, would not be too hard to get to that $25m number.

How many times have we excused Cronin's actions based on the supposition that he'll make better deals in the future?

He totally might make a deal during free agency, and he was building up the budget to do so... but given his track record, I find it hard to believe.

With that being said, I voted that he'd make no trades before or during the draft, so I was wrong there.

It would prove he is healthy at this time. I don't think a physical in the off-season will give trade partners the confidence he has fully recovered as seeing him play well in some games would do.

I don't believe it needs to be him playing for an extended time or multiple months, just 3-10 games may be enough. Maybe even the preseason is enough.

There's a risk he can't even do that, or is diminished when he gets on the court, but I'd expect the trade return is better so it's a risk worth taking for the Blazers.

So what trade return so you think Timelord will get today? Because if there is no FRP I don't see the point or why it matters if your "not convinced". Such a little return is worse than keeping him and rolling the dice.

Do you think LAL would include Knecht in a trade for Grant?

I think they need to give us either Reaves or Knecht

    So either Reaves and Hachimura
    Or
Hachimura and Gabe Vincent and Knecht. (and we move Vincent)

Theres zero chance they're sending Reaves - he's a starter and likely their 3rd most valuable player even with Grant.

Knecht might be possible but I tend to think he makes more sense for their team than ours.

I'd say we take whatever salary they least want (might be Hachimura+Vincent you list) with the prize being 2029 and 2031 picks. That would be my preference - I'd take Knecht instead of a pick if they insist.

17th pick in a very weak draft so about the worth of the 27th pick in a typical draft - we can do better.

His old age and shooting makes more sense on their team than ours too.

Now if the Lakers don't care much for him and won't cough up a second pick I'd consider it. I'd shop for a different trade partner first with Grant, but if we can't get one I'd do that Lakers deal instead of running back Grant here for another pointless veteran season.

I would prefer Knecht and his rookie deal anyway. (Over Reaves)
Funny how Reaves is their 3rd best player, yet probably wouldn't start for the worst team in West.
He would not beat out Shae and he is too small for SF.

    I would want those picks in '29 & '31.

I don't care about Knecht, so I'd prefer not to take him.

The only way I trade with the Lakers is if there's a clause that we fleece them and guarantee they suck for minimum 60 years.

Otherwise, they can go fuck themselves.
