I don't think either of the "94's" has ever said trade all our picks and young players, despite your constant using of that comment. It’s always “the future.” Problem is it’s ALWAYS the future with you never the present. That’s why this team doesn’t win. “Can’t trade so and so because in 10 years they will be good.” Then they never come up because they’re a bust. You have to balance the future with the present but if you’re telling me you’d rather be a mid team for the next 5-10 years seeing a conference final every so often over winning the cup and then having to rebuild then you are what’s wrong with this team. It’s like I’ve said before, you can’t be half in and half out. You are either all in or rebuilding. But dump’s a virgin so he doesn’t understand half in or half out.
The problem is in 5 days who’s left to sign besides more role players who will command even more money since the laws of supply and demand will be in their favor.
On Nashville, they signed Stamkos for four years $8M cap hit, that is more than I would have wanted to spend, so I am okay with passing on that. They also signed Marchessault for five years at $5.5M per, that is something I could have seen us being in on. But as Grey said, let's stay patient and see if Drury does anything. The options are drying up very quickly though. And still no clue what is going on with Trouba thanks to the in over his head Drury.
That’s why 5 days doesn’t work lol. Anyone worth a damn will be gone and we will be trading back for Goodrow, looking for Tyler Motte again and resigning Roslovic and Wennberg. Drury is in over his head. We all suspected it when he got the position. Many of us were up in arms at the trade deadline but were willing to give him the offseason. Now we have seen enough. He’s Brian Cashman. All hype, no substance.
Not going to lie, if that Marchessault / Nashville deal is accurate that is a huge miss for Drury...HUGE.
Big time pass on Stamkos at 8M. That’s a massive overpay for him. But to not get Marchessault for 5.5 is laughable. But I guess he only wants money and not to win…despite going to a team that is going all in to win.
Agreed, I just said the same thing. I think March and Bertuzzi were both big misses by Drury, I cannot get on him for Stamkos with that contract. IN OVER HIS HEAD!!!
There has to be something going on here behind the scenes. This team was a legit Cup contender last year. We have cap space and could match some of these offers (and no, some of them wouldn’t touch like the Stamkos or Guentzel ones). For us to walk away empty handed right now with all these signings happening speaks to something about this team/franchise. Either free agents don’t want to come play with these players, or they don’t want to play for this franchise. This is pure insanity if Marchessault really signed for 5.5 and we didn’t offer him that. Plus, why is Trouba still here? Bad GM, that’s why. He leaked to the media about trading Trouba to Detroit and got played by Stevie Y and now we are left holding our dick in our hand with a third pair dman making $8M who will half ass it and force us to either eat the contract and fuck ourselves or make us trade him for pennies on the dollar.
We also drafted a guy who will be good, hopefully, in 3-5 years. Wooo!!!!!! Can’t wait to be paying a 35 year old goalie $12M to goaltend a rebuilding team that can’t rebuild because of THAT contract (and we ALL know Drury’s dumbass will give a NMC too).
