@Phatguysrule makes important points. If Trump loses in November the threat is postponed, not ended. Supreme Court majority are hard right political activists whose aim is to erase the last hundred years. Trump is perfect figurehead for Christian fascist dictatorship. He already has a cult who don't care what he does as long as they believe they are the in crowd and can do whatever they want to those who are out. Trump has no ideology beyond racism. He is uninterested in work of presidency, only the pomp. He cares about his ego and his wealth. He wants the glory while others do the work of dismantling everything we have achieved. The Heritage Foundation and others who spent millions of dollars and thousands of hours on Project 2025 aren't going away. The court opinion said repeatedly president needs immunity to carry out big bold agenda. They are totally aware of this agenda and support it. End public education, voting rights, family planning, environmental protection, unions, consumer protection, even animal welfare. And any rights for LGBTQ people.
Did he try and set up a christian dictatorship last time he was in office? Did he strip any rights away from LGBTQ? You're just repeating ever talking point. I have a lot of criticisms for Trump, but this stuff is just left-wing propaganda.
Uh... He had his armed guard beat innocent and peaceful protesters so he could take a photo op with a Bible in front of a church which he'd never attended... What do you think that was about? He attempted to prevent Biden from taking office even after Biden had officially won. I'm not sure how much more evidence you're looking for... I mean there is more. But you really shouldn't need more.
If the dem party allows Trump to win with or without Joe it's their own fault. Trump should be the easiest one to beat of all time. Be nice if we had someone running that people were excited about running, it be a landslide. Sorry but Joes got to go asap.
It almost seems like they want to lose, honestly. Almost like the two sides are the same and it's all a big act.
Voter suppression Hostile media (New York Times called for Biden, not Trump, to quit, constant refrain Biden is old while ignoring Trump's obvious dementia) Billionaires pouring money into Trump campaign Supreme Court doing everything they can to help Trump Democrats don't want to lose, they just have a steeper hill to climb. Do you want to help or kvetch?
Been trying to help as much as possible... Wish the Dems would help us once in awhile rather than allowing our rights to be slowly constricted. The Dems simply are not on the same side as the people. Or they would have installed protections to avoid these things. They would have pulled out all the stops the way the Republicans have. But they just keep letting the Republicans get away with it while trying to disarm the population so we have absolutely no recourse. It gets old. Without other (peaceful) options I feel like kvetching.
AOC has filed for an impeachment inquiry into the Supreme Court Justices I read....I think it was good for the dems to jump on this partisan fundamentalist stacked court before it gets even more out of control. Accountability is democracy and man do we have a lot to clean up in the legislative and judicial branches of govt
Irony is dead. Ralph Nader blamed immunity decision on.... Hillary Clinton. She ran a bad campaign that allowed Trump to win electoral college while losing popular vote. Nader threw Florida and therefore electoral college to Bush, even though Bush lost popular vote. Bush then appointed Alito and Roberts.
This was amusing to me. Has anyone indicated what legal offenses the 6 conservative justices have collectively committed, aside from issuing rulings with which the left disagrees?
Almost exactly what I was saying November 2020… Biden has always been a stop gap measure. It was bad in 2020 and it is worse now. Trump isn’t going away, American fascism isn’t going away. So how do we as people and a country deal with them?
Perhaps it's that most of them were asked about presidential immunity during their confirmation hearings and all said the president is not above the law.
