I don't think a trade partner will ever project he will be a healthy long term piece. Right now as you say he probably has negative trade value. But if he is healthy and playing well I could see a contender willing to roll the dice he is healthy for a few months and into the playoffs. It wouldn't be a great asset coming back, but maybe could be a highly protected FRP or a few seconds. That's much better than flipping him for negative value now.

If Timelord can't get healthy then Blazers just keep him and next summer he's an expiring contract.

Wouldn't 45th be a second option? Not sure how you can say he's paid like a 3rd option if half the teams would only have one player earning more.

I said second or third option. Doesn’t that depend on what team he’s on? On the Blazers he was a second option with Dame. On the Lakers he would be a third option because they have two Hall of Fame caliber players.

    We could potentially trade
    Ayton
    Grant
    Ant

In any trade, Timelord can be involved. Timelord now vs Timelord recently playing could be the difference in us not getting what we want or not. All I'm saying. . . I agree with you, teams consider history. But there is also recency bias. Memphis / Knicks could be watching Timelord drop 12/10/4/3 and they could talk themselves into being 3rd or 4th or team involved that could help make a trade we like done

sure....you're right. Something like that could happen. The chances it does are pretty small IMO, and in order to get Timelord that kind of exposure the Blazers would need to limit the minutes of Ayton and/or Clingan and give them to Timelord

what I'm saying is that he has generic negative value right now and it's unlikely that value will be higher by the trade deadline. So, if the Blazers can move his contract without adding any value or taking back negative value, they absolutely should

F it, play him at PF if need be.

Anyway, with Derozan going yo the Kings, sounds like Markannen, Grant, Simons, Ingram, Kuzma, Lavine, Young, Butler are the next names to watch

I like people complaining about how you can't pay Grant that as your 3rd option, while Boston is paying the same roughly for their 5th option. You can if you're trying to win in a small window

This is what cracks me up. I’d much rather have Grant and the Wizards want two firsts for Kuz.

    That's good for us

Lakers can have Kuz or Grant for 2 1sts

    Markannen,
    Grant,
    Ingram,
    Kuzma,
    Lavine,
    Young,
    Butler

Grant, Kuzma are Lakers choice. Same asking price.

    The rest they cannot afford

Pretty easy choice if you ask me. I wouldn't take Kuzma for Grant straight up. I don't think the 6M difference in salary would make me change my mind if I were the Lakers and I were trying to win a championship now.

    This is the trade:

    Lakers get Jerami Gran

Nets get Hachimura / Vanderbilt / Thybulle

Blazers get Ben Simmons / BKN UFRP / LAL UFRP

I don't like giving up Thybulle but you get points for creativity...

Brooklyn is tanking. There's no reason for them to move Simmons at this point and they're definitely not giving up picks.

Is there another team that values

    Hachimura / Vanderbilt / Thybulle

In exchange for one UFRP and matching Salary

    Maybe?

Why do I have no faith in the Blazers making any moves and running it back with Grant and Simons?

It would be idiotic managerial decisions.

Yeah this is what I fear we may have to expect. Lock up the 3rd worst record in an epically weak draft, then try to make a playin push when theres a generational draft.
