no, I don't always have original opinions. I sometimes use the actual takes from the "other" Blazer fan forum.
If anyone wanted to read Blazers Edge, they'd be over there reading it, we don't need it brought here
I'm 99% convinced Jody hired a bot company for Blazers Edge. There's nothing wrong with optimism, but the outlandish positivity can be hilarious.
I am inclined to think Detroit, San Antonio, and Charlotte will all be in a different tanking tier compared to Portland/Washington/Toronto/Brooklyn/Chicago. Utah always can't seem to help themselves and win more games than they want.
I clicked on the latest 1080 radio pod. After a brief update on the amazing Joe Cronin, they immediately began blabbing about exciting things on tap for the Portland next summer. .... too bad we can't hit Fast Forward and skip a year. I reckon this Front Office has a major league tank agenda.
San Antonio might just be too good with Wemby. But they'll probably jump into the top 4 from 12 though. That's usually how it goes.
NIL $$$ can come close to matching some rookie NFL contracts, they can't match NBA contracts, especially if Flagg is a protected Top 5 pick.
Even if it exceeds the rookie scale contract, there is no way it can outweigh the benefit of starting the rookie scale clock earlier because Flagg's 2nd NBA contract is going to be where he makes his bread.
Probably won't happen, but you never know. He might enjoy college life or maybe he gets injured and decides to stay one more year. It's not like he won't make 200 million in his career either way.
Kid is holding his own against the vets on the big team in Vegas right now by all accounts. Ain't no way he stays in college.
This is why we’re keeping Chauncey; nobody will believe we’re losing on purpose as long as he’s our coach.
Definitely this. The numbers might look similar for this year but he'd potentially be giving up 50+ million per year of lost max contract years.
people are severely overestimating NIL amounts. It's crazy how somebody's wild-ass speculation becomes accepted reality. to begin with, the biggest NIL deals are in football. Even the most lucrative NIL deals for basketball are around 1M; most are suspected to be less if you assume Flagg can double that as a sophomore....hell, say he triples that amount, it would be around 3M. If he instead is the #1 pick that season, his rookie salary would be around 15M. And his 4 year 'guaranteed' rookie scale deal would be in the 63-65M range. NIL would be a drop in the bucket compared to that and, as mentioned, it would delay his 2nd contract by a year. That's huge because in his 5th NBA season the salary cap could be 205M (10% smoothing increases each year). If he gets that 30% max deal coming off rookie scale, his 1st year salary could be over 60M. He could sign a 5 year deal well over 350M. In his first 9 years in the NBA he could earn 420M. That's just from salary. His endorsement deals from NBA exposure could be huge as well he's not going to risk all that financial upside for a 2-3M NIL contract
Never thought we'd see a Wemby level or prospect again so soon. I mean Flagg probably is just a hair below that level but he's at least at the once every 10 year generational level. Is he a better prospect than Oden or Durant were? I'd say right now it appears clearly yes.
