it's true that Portland paid a pretty steep price for Avdija. Two first's, both of which could be lottery picks, 5 years apart; a couple of 2nd's + Brogdon. So yeah, the Wizards sold Avdija for a solid haul....maybe a great haul depending on 2029

but the author of that article was a little too dismissive of Portland's POV. To start with, in a short article he said the Wizards "fleeced" Portland 4 different times. He needed to find another label and vary the verb. So he gets a couple of demerits for lack of imagination

Also, yeah, there were a couple of 2nd round picks but those are pretty minor assets easy to replace.

he's also trying to count Saddiq Bey as part of the trade and that's just fucking idiotic. He's claiming the trade made the space necessary to sign Bey, apparently. But Brogdon's salary is 6.4M more than Avdija's so the Wizards would have had the space anyway

finally, he's trying to count whatever assets the Wizards might get for Brogdon as part of the haul and people around here can recognize how hollow that kind of asset can be. I mean, we were hoping that Brogdon might fetch back a late first. But the Blazers had to add two first's to Brogdon in order to extract any value

A huge part of the deal (which wasn't mentioned) was the extra cap space we got, which got us out of the apron. Getting under the apron has allowed us to not have to take crap deals on our vets.

I don’t know what he’s talking about. Who got traded for going against LeBron’s agenda? KCP and Caruso who won him his last title?

this Fansided Wizards person sure is confident. While i'm sure their owner is estatic about escaping the fire and brimstone of Bradley Beal's supermax, their 2nd best player is Jordan Poole. The mess in DC is far from being over.

Hmm, I was told that starting two 6'3" guards will not work.
And in this case, I think it is true.

I see some similarities between LBJ and Jokic in the fact that their teams tend to do well when the offense is run through them. So I think they are better off surrounding both of them with as many shooters as possible. My guess is Westbrook will be better off the bench.

The real question is will Westbrook be finishing games? He does take ill-advised shots in close games.

Agreed. There will be plenty of minutes where they will both be on the floor together, but they need a solid shooter at the end of games. Braun seems like a better option

it just seems to me that Westbrook is not the kind of guard the Nuggets need....but maybe their biggest need is a guard who would play for the minimum

wait...is Denver going to sign him for more?

The Kerfufle number on Westbrook is he will finish 10 games and take 30+ ill advised shots!

I think Jokic and Russ could end up being fun to watch. It is a gamble with house money if they get him that cheap. Though not a shooter, Russ can still impact a game with big plays. Murray has been a bit disappointing imho. Russ won’t solve their problem of miserly ownership but if they can make it work give me them all day over the Sixers for a fun watch.

If Dr. J is coaching it can't be bad at all. Prices are good too.
