The military budget went up 100 billion under the Biden administration, and Trump has the audacity to threaten to sue for peace in Ukraine. The deep state doesn't seem to like peace makers.

Why, yes we have. Just like almost every other country in the world has under whomever happened to be in office during the run up. Of course, the US rate was less than most.

It’s almost like the supply chain problems that occurred during Covid were a worldwide issue.

I'd say the vast majority. Although I suppose the kids don't really have a choice sometimes

You'd have to explain what that means first.

"are you calling me fat, boy!?"

I've heard some wild takes, but describing Trump as a "peace maker" is one of the wildest. Another wild thing is to take Trump at his word that he would end the war in Ukraine, as if he has the ability or motivation to do so. It's campaign rhetoric on par with "the deal of the century" that was supposed to solve Palestine-Israel.

It takes a small amount of critical thinking to see past his carnival barking. I don't understand why so many people believe him.

I don't want to turn this thread into a Trump debate. I'd say his administration was much less "radical" than his words. Journalist like Michael Tracy point out how his administration was mostly maintaining a status quo. He was much more bark that bite.

But the fact that the deep state had their guns pointed at him from the start is undeniable. Which I believe is due to the fact that he threatened them (drain the swamp), and they see him as a threat, due to being a loose cannon.

How else do you explain how the escalating media assassination--->lawfare--->real assassination attempt. Of course, I know many here see those things in a different light, but I can only interpret them as hatred for Trump. The actions speak very loudly.

There were a few people in his administration that thank goodness were responsible and babysat his ass and told him no when he wanted to do stupid shit. This time he is surrounding himself with yes men who will do his bidding.

I don't get that impression, honestly. I stay out of the Project 2025 stuff because I saw the right do the Agenda 2030 gimmick during the pandemic as a way to stir the base. If these names that are floating around like Larry Fink and the JPMorgan guy for Treasury Secretary are real considerations, that to me is a good indication that it's business as usual for the Republicans. I mean, Trump went from mass deportations as a part of his rhetoric to permanent residency for anyone who goes to community college. Nobody really talks about it but one of the reasons Trump stalled in 2020 and lost crucial support in key states is that the white people who voted for him to do crazy shit just stayed home.

And as an aside, the way people act like guardian angels prevented Trump from going nuts is not the full story. Trump himself hired idiots like John Bolton who begged him to go to war with Iran. Much of his presidency was infighting with these warhawks who wrote books post firing, seething that they couldn't get another hot war off the ground as they make up fan fiction where they prevented Trump from abolishing civil rights.

Trump will continue to sell out the country to the Rex Tillersons of the world, let the Likud party in Israel run wild in Gaza, and further embed the tech-MAGA contingency of Thiel, Musk, and Vance into the GOP. I don't buy into the fascist takeover stuff. That's election talk to get people out of the Burger King drive-thru and into a voting booth.

I love this take, it’s the corporate media’s flagship piece of propaganda right now. Were all supposed to believe that Trump is the end of the world and end of democracy as we know it because of all the “things he’s gonna do if he’s allowed to be president”. The fun thing about this fear porn liberals beat off to is it completely hinges itself on the American public’s goldfish-like attention span where we completely forget things if they took place more than a year ago. In order to believe all these conspiracy theories and chicken little cries you guys verbally shit out, one would have to forget that Trump was already the president once, you all said the same fear mongering trash you are now, and absolutely none of it came to fruition.

lol Michael Tracy. A broken clock and all that.

Either way, the status quo IS funneling as much money to the military industrial complex and letting the CIA plot new and innovative ways to kill brown people to maintain our economic strangleholds. It's what we've always done, and Trump was certainly no different. Again, why would everyone who is benefiting want him gone?

Here are some actually serious questions: What is the deep state? What did he mean when he said "drain the swamp"?

This only makes sense if you think "the deep state" means "anyone not in the MAGA cult". If the whole media ecosystem, government and justice system were filled with Trump loyalists, then none of this would be happening! It must be that it's a conspiracy everyone hates my special big boy president for no good reason. :smiley-sad:

The media assassination is easy: Trump is a very weird dude who is also a loudmouth blowhard and is often dead wrong about things he speaks very confidently about. Doesn't matter who you are, when you see a person like that, you make fun of him. But, when that loudmouth blowhard is also the head of a very popular ultra-conservative nationalist political movement with very real consequences on the line, then people tend to take it a little more seriously. As they should.

The lawfare is simple. He broke some laws. The fact that conservatives think the justice system applying to them just like everyone else is akin to warfare is pretty telling.

The real assassination attempt: who knows at this point? I wouldn't be surprised if the kid acted alone, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were other folks involved. It's just insane to think the CIA and those who profit from war would have anything to do with it, imho.

Major new video dropped. Wow. The guy was filming right in front of the building Crooks was on. You can see cops, with guns drawn, surrounding the building well before any shots rang out.

It’s crazy how a former president and current candidate was nearly assassinated and supposedly grazed by a bullet and its now a non story.

Like we’re going to go back in time a few years from now and people will be like ‘oh yeah’ I vaguely remember that.

Nobody outside of his cult cares about Trump. Like, I don't think most people want him killed... But meh. He's probably got it coming.

*Edit* They only care about the next crazy thing he does

Trump didn't even spend a night in a hospital. We didn't get to "miss" him for a few days while he recuperated from a gunshot wound, like Ronald Reagan. I'd give his shooting a -1/2 star rating.

I am sure we would all still be talking about it more now, had the shooter succeeded.
