I like cats with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

I came home from work yesterday to find five cats lounging on my patio.

    I only have four cats.

And these are five totally different cats. This is not your beautiful house. This is not your beautiful wife.

A lizard wandered in and tried to hide behind the shoes. Lashanna found it. Poor lizard.

Erica DeVries is a Democratic candidate for state legislature in New Hampshire. After hearing JD Vance denounce childless cat ladies taking over the country, she ran ad explaining that although she hasn't children she is committed to improved public education. She added pictures of her two cats and asked for donations for childless cat lady. Her fundraising skyrocketed.

I live in California but think I will chip in a few bucks in Lashanna's name.

If I'd known that was what you wanted, I also would have brought you one.

My 1-year-old tabby, Mikasa, had an accident with a swinging door on Tuesday night.

No broken bones or injured internal organs, but her white blood cells were through the roof after she had two seizures following an initial examination where she looked fine.

I visited her in the hospital last night and she started eating and cuddling for me for the first time since I took her. The hospital just called and said her appetite now is very good and she's finally using the litter box. Still walking like she's drunk, but she's at least trying to walk, which she wasn't doing last night -- when I first saw her yesterday I thought I was going to have to put her down, but in the next hour she made a real positive turn and is staying on the right track, it seems, knock on wood.

I've got both of my grandawgs for the next 3 days while my son is off camping ...they love it out here where they can run all day...it's noon and they're sleeping on the shady deck already. I love their company when I get the chance. We passed on the family camping trip this weekend to chill at home...ussually go but always come home with a sore back ...I like my bed.

Mikasa is home. She's still a little neurologic but much, much better than she was when I visited her Wednesday night.

Now she's back to finger-biting, so she keeps showing signs of returning to normal.

    I should read further. :)

So happy she is doing better. I can create a picture of the incident in my head and it made my heart pound.

Lashanna goes to v.e.t. Monday for shots and exam. She gets carsick. I warned them to expect a cleanup on arrival.

And oh can that cat curse!

Mik's roaming the house now. She wants to go outside, but she's still walking like she's had one too many to drink.

The other three cats really were subdued when she was MIA. People don't think animals have empathy. Her brother and sister like to stay out for the night, but they both came in and slept in the house last night.

When one of my older cats, T'Challa, died a few months ago, I put him in a shroud and let him lay for a couple of hours before burying him, giving the other cats a chance to say goodbye. Reiner, a male kitten, had become friends with T'Challa. He actually laid down and stayed with T'Challa's remains.
