That was the only fair option and it’s so lame that they didn’t let them.

France did a hell of a job putting on the Olympics.

Is Portland more likely to host an Olympics or an NBA All-Star weekend?

More likely to host an asteroid than either of those.

LeBron James was the best player at the Olympics. Shame on the Lakers for wasting his brilliance.

There was a time Portland talked about hosting a winter Olympics. Summer seems more likely now with Eugene becoming a bit more relevant but still very unlikely.
Seems the NBA simply has no interest in Portland at this point either?

I bet Dame wants to focus more on winning an NBA championship. He already has an Olympic gold medal.

I would say NBA All-Star weekend, but both are highly unlikely

    What a hot take!

LBJ can't play like that all the time, however, he can absolutely do it in short bursts.

LBJ the GM destroyed LBJ the player - and I'm not just talking about the Westbrook trade.

LBJ is extremely interested in his legacy, even more so than winning.

Lost in all this talk of the gold medal race and US' best-ever total medal haul is any sort of analysis into what effect Russia's absence had on the rest of the leader board. Surely, all those medals up for grabs were not shared evenly by other countries.

The closing ceremony reinforced what the opening ceremony proved: Olympic ceremonies should always be held in the main stadium. Much better effort, there. (And hey, there actually is a French musical group! Just one though, apparently.) But, I couldn't help but laugh when Marchand quietly walks off with the mini-me torch at the start of the show, having to make the trek back to where it should have been the whole time. Then again, if the organizers had provided important details to the broadcast crews for the opening ceremony, like the cauldron design apparently being in honor of the French creators of the gas balloon at that very spot, the disjointed approach might have seemed more sensible.

So this constant talk on here about the GOLD medal count for the past 3 weeks.....do those who were all wrapped up in that actually think China had as successful a games as we did? Even if they had 5 more golds or whatever..... USA dominated these games. Most medals ever right?

I agree. The total medal count is what I look at when I think of who "won" the Olympics.
China has about 1 billion more people than the USA. 1 billion more potential Olympic athletes. And we got more overall medals.
