    I don't see any need for a 4-point shot. I think the NBA has kind of over-corrected in favor of the 3 point line as is

    If they make a 4 point shot, the first time it wins a game for a team down by 3 and Mike Breen is announcing, his head will explode right after he screams, "BANG!!!!" with more intensity than he ever has before.

    Yeah but 27 feet would make it the favored shot like the three is now. It needs to be 30' so teams don't actually play to get that shot.

    Agreed. Last year, the NBA average on 3's was .366, so an average of 1.1 points per shot. In my mind, they'd need it to be deep enough that league average is under 30%. Any higher and it will be too lucrative a shot.

    However if that happens kids the world round would be practicing a 30 footer and eventually it would become the shot.

    the distance can be decided appropriately but the availability of a 4-pt shot will open up more ending scenarios which could make for some interesting outcomes. teams would adjust their crunch time strategy
