I don't understand UTEP, there's nothing around there at all. People think it's Texas, and while technically true I live in the middle of the state and it's an 8 hour drive at 80 to get to El Paso. Teams would all fly there so no point really. Texas State is driving distance to all the big cities. That would be awesome for me if they join the PAC and could see the Beavs here. Texas State has been building up a ton in recent years as bigbailes is saying. The president is really making a lot of improvements and very active. He's very excited and visible with schools football program.
I'm not sure what "reputable" means in 2024. But you're right, the confirmed news is that the MWC extended the offer and a decision is coming in the next few days rumor is that the Pac-7 has not made an offer yet
Yea they have come a long way in a few years and that location is perfect to nab some of the Austin and SA kids that get overlooked by the bigger programs. I think it would be a very nice foothold into Texas, I could understand though if they didn't want all the travel, especially without a travel partner, though UTSA would have been nice or even a North Texas, even if those brands are down the line in the pecking order for their markets. WSU played them in baseball last year in Round Rock and despite jumping out to an early lead we ended up losing in a death by a 1,000 paper cuts type of way. I'm with you on UTEP ... it's so remote from the rest of the state and I think most people in Texas consider El Paso to be more a part of New Mexico than they do Texas.
I guess I mean any national or even regional reporter that isn't a blog account for the school. Agree that it seems the P-7.5 isn't all that interested in the Bobcats.
I don’t remember ever believing/saying/typing that. Last thing it is, is a “big name school”. That was the draw of the school itself. And I don’t believe there are near that many people on that campus.
it made some sense to reach into Texas when they had a chance to get 2-3 teams there, and another couple in the South but only one team in the center of Texas while the rest 1500 miles away or more? Doesn't compute for either the Pac-7 or Texas St.
Don't be mad that the pac 12 basketball conference is already stronger than the pac 12 was over the last 35 years.
If your program would have been a positive addition, you would have been invited and your Beavs would have bolted in a heartbeat….no doubt about it.
I’m cool with that. Been a fan since Day 1. Always will be. Nothing like trips down to Eugene for football and basketball games from the late 70s til 1990!
Jesus christ guys, there is a Ducks thread completely separate from this. Go post there about those Fucks.
Ohhhhhh, are you a Beaver fan? I can understand you being upset about that to be honest with you. Must be tough.
I'm upset that the pac 12 rivalries and history is gone. I went to Oregon State, contrary to what some of ya'll think, many of us couldn't care any less about the Ducks. When I click into a Beavers thread, i'm not wanting to read about the Ducks every other post.
It doesn't impact me at all. I'm a season ticket holder that will continue to go to the games because they aren't just a sports team to me. It's the memories of actually going to school there that swell up with nostalgia no matter who they play or if they win or lose.
