He's good on ball. Some times leaves that three point shooter in the corner too much room.

reportedly, the Blazers F.O. spent a couple of years coveting Ayton before they landed him in the Dame trade. It was a really stupid desire on the part of Cronim/Schmitz but it was a mission they chose with apparent enthusisam

Billups has to be aware of that. Maybe that will motivate him to go back to the giving Ayton 2-3 times the minutes as Clingan. But since it's pretty clear he won't be the HC next season, maybe Billups won't be so pro-Ayton in his rotations.

seems kind of obvious that of the 3 C's: Ayton/Clingan/Timelord, Ayton is the 3rd best and 3rd most impactful. Adding him to the team was a delusional mistake by the F.O.

It was but it was also a different type of excitement. I can’t really explain it.

No, I don't want to shame him. And I noticed he took the benching well, really made a point of effusively supporting Banton at the end of the game.

Pretty low risk though, don't you think?

We got rid of Nurk/Little/Keon. I don't really see much of a loss there. What else could that package have gotten us?

We got Camara out of the deal. Ayton only has one more year on his contract. Clingon needs some time to get used to the NBA and Rob.... well.... I still think we should trade him.

So are we keeping Williams long-term in your scenario? Can he stay healthy? Because DC picking up 2 quick fouls in the first 3 minutes to be placed by Duop would not be my preference. Duop is more of a 3rd string center to me. And we will need 3 centers since it is a position where injuries often occur. At least for the Blazers.

I can, never felt like the Dame teams had the legs to maybe challenge for a championship down the line. The early Dame / LMA team was exciting but it was not clear how it would work with a young stud and an aging star, after that breakup these Dame teams were mostly questionable even as fans for future growth, CJ was Dame-light so it was clear there was duplication there, there was, for a minute there some excitement about the team with Nurk fever but that went away quickly when they tried to force feed Nurk and it was clear he was not that dude, later he broke his leg and while the team, through lucky matchups, crazy Dame performance in the first round and crazy CJ performance in the 2nd round made it to the WCF, they were exposed by the Warriors.

With this team, a couple of young complimentary high-upside players (Sharpe, DC and maybe Scoot) and the chance of another one in the upcoming draft... there is something there, especially when the FO has understood what NeO never did, you need size in this league, you need big bodies that can handle and create in this league. The Blazers can now have Sharpe, Deni - bigger bodies that can be playmakers, in addition to a good passing big which is also a great defensive anchor in DC and role players that can score and handle some TC, DB. There is certainly something brewing here.

As an aside...the two players most responsible for this excitement, both drafted 7. A pair of 7's bringing back Blazermania seems fitting.

Wait, it's not Monday morning. So, they should have anticipated trading for Rob and drafting Clingon? That would have been impressive.

Not to add that it is rewriting history. DA's big salary was needed to move Dame's big salary, so taking a flyer on a former #1 pick that was actually pretty good when the Suns made it to the Finals seem like way different than delusional, it was both a necessity to make that big trade happen and a good way to try something for a highly skilled big with the hope that getting out of the Monty / CP3 cesspool will help him.

DA was well worth the trade and the Blazers quickly realized that they need to upgrade the position for the long-term which they did.

I feel like we won this trade pretty handily :dunno:

Nas was clearly the best player in that trade. It should have been the Little trade. :devilwink:

I'd be happy to see Ayton gone but the trade to PHX IMO was a win, we got rid of a worse Nurk (same contract length) and also Nas Littles contract as well (a bad one as well) - believe that totals around 25 mil per, Ayton makes more but he's gone after next year. IMO what makes the trade a fairly good one is we got Camara in it, a win as far as I am concerned

IMO no, I think he needs to be starter otherwise he might go through same thing when he becomes starter. We need him to develop as quickly as possible, delaying it just delays our timeline. Losses don’t hurt right now but will soon when we fight for playoffs. Plus we need to know is he our future point guard if not this draft has some good ones.

as side note Banton might be able to fill backup role if we trade Ant

I know no one wants to take chance on RW’s health but him and Clingan would be a hell of a duo. RW 20 minutes a game and our defense would be top 10 with those two as our anchors on defense. Also lots of offense with our two guards driving lane they come to help and they create lots of lob opportunities for Clingan and RW.

Even worse, Duop is only a 3rd stringer based on last year's breakout performances. This year, he's a woefully bad shooter, and that is his primary area of contribution. An undersized center who hustles and can't do much else doesn't have a place in the league.

Come to think of it, maybe he and Deni don't get along, considering where they're from, and that's got them both in a shooting slump.

I did not realize that Australia and Israel had issues with one another.
