If we lose that game with or w/o starters and OSU beats Indiana it could drop us in the seeding for college playoff.
it's Washington and every Duck player not a true freshman remembers the two 3 point losses to the Huskies last year. And the coaching staff has been in Eugene long enough to know what this game means to the fan base the Duck won't rest players this game. Going undefeated in the regular season has meaning. Maybe a couple of the guys coming back from injury will have limited minutes (Burch, Harper). The only exception might be Tez Johnson. If he does play, Oregon might limit the type of routes he runs. It's almost certain that the Washington DB's will target his shoulder on tackles so Tez need to think like a QB and slide to avoid contact. And Gabriel needs to NOT throw any hospital balls toward Tez like he threw to Lowe against Wisconsin
B1G title game is the only thing that really matters for seeding. If they win that--whether 12-1 or 13-0--they get a bye in the first round of the playoff. Do you think that a 12-1 B1G champ will be any lower than a 2 seed? I guess it's possible that if they lose to UW and in the B1G title game, the committee could drop them to the 9 seed and they wouldn't host their first round game, but it seems highly unlikely to me that the committee would punish them for resting their players for what is essentially a meaningless game.
The Ducks losing 2 games in a row to end the season could drop them to a tough road game in Mid December.
Joey Galloway ESPN college playoffs suggested Indiana not play their qb thats coming back from injury against OS. The other commentators thought he was crazy! lol They haven't beaten OSU ever in modern times.
he'll leave as soon as he gets an offer from a better situation than Colorado. If any of the Florida jobs open and he's offered, he'll jump without question Deion is all about Deion
[QUOTE="PtldPlatypus, post: 5725528, member: 21412 "but it seems highly unlikely to me that the committee would punish them for resting their players for what is essentially a meaningless game.[/QUOTE] no one knows what the committee will do since this is the first year. But I would not take the chance of losing both games when you have the SEC already posturing for more of their teams getting in with 2-3 losses.
Big If? The Ducks are the visiting team in that venue against whoever they play. What do you think happens if they are 11-2 with a loss in the championship game? They get a bye week this week with one game before the championship game. Go in undefeated with a huge win vs Washington and let other teams sweat your undefeated record.
This whole #1 ranking is a bit ridiculous at this point. I talk to people here in LA who only casually follow college football and are surprised when I tell them that I don't expect to win it all. Do I think we have a chance? Yes. But I would always take the "field" vs any team this year. This is not the NBA where you get 7 games to win it. There are easily 8 teams as good as Oregon.
