Does anyone know whats goin on? for the last two weeks its been espn syndicate in the mornings. And i haven’t heard Dwight with Chad in a while. Did they downsize and cut Rip City radio in the Am on 620??? If so, man this organization is actively trying to push fans away? I loved hearing the post gMe breakdowns the next morning on the way to work. Wtf.
iHeart Radio, who owns 620 is hurting financially. Huge layoffs nationwide. Jaynes was fired. The Blazers don't run Rip City Radio. I don't think there has been any changes to the actual Blazer games radio broadcasts.
ahh I thought they ran or supported rip city radio. Real bummer. At least they left Chad. He is my fav of them all.
As BeerBoy said, they're owned by iheart radio, and they're going through a lot of cuts to stations across the nation. The Blazers haven't been in charge of the radio station that broadcast Blazer games for a LONG time (when they used to own KXL back in the day, iirc). It's kinda weird to blindly assume this is doing of the Trail Blazers, ESPECIALLY given they just paid a ton of money to get out a contract with Root Sports and went to OTA broadcast for something like 95% of their games (and actually wanted to do this years back but the league said no). The writing should have been on the wall when they station cut Nigel and Dan Sheldon from their morning shows and went with the most boring milquetoast host they could find. Honestly, if it wasn't for the Blazers, there's little doubt that station wouldn't change format to a more profitable one.
They referred to themselves as the official Blazers radio. I assumed the Blazers had a part in its functioning based on that. I would say assuming it was a blind assumption is a blind assumption in itself?
Just think of it like TV, KATU is now the official Blazer TV station but the Blazers have no say in the shows KATU airs or the news anchors and reporters they use.
I can't believe, in the year 2024, someone is actually using this argument. When they say they're the "official" Blazers radio station, it just means they're the station in the city that broadcasts the games. It's like being the "flagship" station. Back when KEX was the "official" Blazers radio, were they owned by the team or had decisions made by the team? Nope. When 620 KGW was the "official" station (in the 80s') the Blazers didn't own them. It literally takes 2 seconds to Google this shit. It's much easier to just go "well, don't I feel foolish. I should've googled this rather simple information to find, instead of getting defensive about it".
Oh dear god, I totally thought it was him! HAHAHAH! Well now I'm not gonna edit it, so it remains funny.
Lol, okay. Like you have never ever thought something without googling it? if only we were all like you… just fucking perfect… lol. Ive admitted to being wrong many many times on this site while I've witnessed the opposite when others were clearly wrong. Never saw you jump in like this and go off on them. Fucking figures…..
I have FOUR responses right now ……….. PROMISED………Sly……….I…………WOULDN’T………….. They are fire takes too. Your losses FAMS!
