I don't think Scoot should be the long term PG for this Roster, as it's being developed. We have 3 young talented players in the front court, that the team seems to really like: Clingan, Camara, and Deni. None of the 3 are good shooters. We also have Sharpe, who while talented isn't a good shooter either. Adding Scoot to this mix, just puts us so under the bar that the team will never have playoff success. Teams are just going to force us to shoot, and driving leads to more turnovers. And Scoot is NOT good enough to warrant building around, as he might be if he were Westbrook level talent. I really hope we can get Harper or Demin in the draft, and move on from Scoot. I don't know if he'd have any value as trade bait to move up?
Yeah its too soon to definitively say Scoot is a bust. But I think we have crossed the point where we can say he is not the star most of us were hoping for at the draft, it would be beyond a longshot if he ever developed that. He should be treated the same as many players on our roster ie Camara or Rupert or Clingan, etc. A young player with flaws and potential but not someone who has established we will build the future of the team around. We should continue to look for possible starting level talent at all positions on the Blazers. If that means adding a PG in trade or in the draft, so be it.
They say Dylan Harper can't shoot the 3 either. Irrelevant. BPA in the coming draft. Hoping we get into the top 3.
i hate to give up on any of these young guys until i have seen them play for at least a year both heavy minutes and under great coaching. Like if the coaching staff was borderline elite and they played 30-35 every single night and looked bad, then let them go. Otherwise, they'll just go somewhere else and bust out, is my guess. Mariners fans know this well.
A few advanced stats for Scoots draft year - No one stat tells the full story. But from the chapters I've read, I'm starting to look for another book.
We've been posting on mailing lists and forums about the Blazers for decades. Why do we do it? I figure we just really enjoy complaining about other peoples' opinions.
to make sure we understand that all our hopes and dreams are pointless I already understood that because I'm married
That's an interesting theory: The reason anyone should post is to complain about other posters. The reason those others post? To complain about other posters. It's circular, like any economy. All this theory needs is equations and tables, to make into an academic paper.
He has to be like top 10 biggest busts. Again based on the hype and generational labels he was getting. Huge disappointment..
His Per36’s aren’t world beating but they aren’t horrible: 15.9 points/7.4 assists/3.9 rebounds Again, he’s 20, not 23 like Dame was when he was drafted. I would have preferred a college experienced player but I’m not going to judge Scoot until he’s 23. We are paying him to help us legitimize the tank and it’s working. I want to see him play with us at least five seasons before giving up.
