Very few guys on the OLine at top schools get any reps as true Freshman. He might not like his coach, or miss home terribly (Suamataia), or feel everyone else is better then him and he'll never play, or have a family situation at home he feels he needs to get closer to, or miss sweltering humidity or lots of things.

Best of luck going forward to what seems a fine young man.

God I hope we win the title this year. It seems so wide open this year. I’m just waiting to be disappointed once again as a ducks fan.

The #12 basketball team won again after trailing most of the game, beating USC in their Big opener. TBH it's often agonizing watching them. I don't know if they are just bad shooters or if it's so coached into them to only take good shots and so they get tentative? Shelsted finally just started driving and making layups or getting fouled.

Altman coached teams are kind of unique. He recruits good teams but never really has a go to scorer. Often the stat sheets are filled with guys scoring 10-14 points.

Oregon has had a hell of a year regardless of how it finishes. On any play the best team could lose a key player that changes their whole dynamic, the ball takes weird bounces & a blown call can tip the balance of a game... thats football

Maybe it's because I've been rooting for Oregon since before they enjoyed winning seasons, but I've really enjoyed the ride this season and will look back on it fondly regardless of whether they even make the final game.

Recruiting perspective via rivals rankings... in Oregon's current committed class of 21 players, 18 of them are within the top 250 prospects in the country with 11 of those within the top 90. Per recruiting rankings, this is likely their best WR, DB & QB class ever & maybe OLine as well

Usually I have one or two new recruits that I'm especially excited for, this cycle I have eight. Lanning relayed that 15 of the 21 will be enrolling early... can't wait for the Spring game!

Does anyone here listen to Colin Cowherd?

What is his deal against the Ducks? I listen, but not every day. But anyways, this morning he was talking about how there’s only 2 current coaches who have won a national title. He said there’s tons of good young coaches who could become great and build dynasties like Alabama and Georgia did.

Among the names he listed was Ryan Day, Josh Huipel, Marcus Freeman and others.

    No mention of Lanning.

Right after we beat Ohio St there was no props for the Ducks. It was all about how Ohio St let down and made mistakes.

Dude is from the NW. Worked for an Oregon news station. I generally like the discussions on his show.

But what is his axe to grind with the Ducks? Even his squirrely little cohost never gives them props or even mentions them when they’re talking college football.

That’s just it. He worked here. Something at one point rubbed him the wrong way with the program and he hasn’t let it go.

I always felt like he was kind of an Oregon homer? But I haven't listened to him for a few years...

Yeah that all makes sense. To each his own. With my daughter going thru this whole recruiting experience and seeing how crazy it is first hand, I kind of look at it thru the athletes eyes more I think. Very exciting day for these student athletes. Definitely a different level than what my little one went thru, but still very cool. Transfer portal playing a huge part in her career as we speak.

But when he does have a go to scorer like Pritchard, the team does well. I think you have to have a strong personality like Pritchard or Dillon Brooks to just go out there and take your shots and not worry about the coach. Actually last year Dante was their go to scorer. He was so dominant in a not very big Pac-12, that he was their best option by far. Altman may not have recruited him to be the go to guy but he eventually became one.

"Midway through a slick commitment video that featured Oregon head coach Dan Lanning explaining how five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord would fit into his program, a familiar octogenarian popped up on screen: Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

The Oregon super booster didn't say anything in the video that announced Offord, the nation's No. 2 cornerback and No. 12 overall prospect, had flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon's 2025 class. But his presence wasn't a coincidence.

"Uncle Phil," as he's known to Oregon players, is doing everything he can to deliver a national title for his beloved Ducks. Getting a must-have 6-foot-1 five-star cornerback out of the state of Alabama and away from Oregon's toughest Big Ten competition was just part of the plan.

"He played a big role, like a huge, big role," Offord told CBS Sports of Phil Knight. "He's actually waiting on me to get up there, he's got a lot of stuff planned for me. He's gonna help me make my shoe."
