That could be a good idea. Here are some issues with the NBA according to this video:

    - Too many ridiculous technical fouls and ejections (we saw this when Chris Paul was ejected.)

    - No rivalries

    - No Drama (related to too many ejections and lack of rivalries)

    - Complexity / cost of watching your teams' games

    - Vibe that some players don't care about the game. e.g. , Paul George has more podcasts than games played.

    - Injecting politics

    - 3-point shooting has made some games unbearable to watch.

The video is mis-titled and should be " Why viewership is down" instead.

Yeah I like the cup idea but it would be best if it was finished that week prior to the Superbowl. So much college/pro football right now that all NBA is a minor sport.

The 3pt is a problem, but reviews are bad too it just slows the game down so much.

This yeah the NFL is playing two games on Christmas so that might really hurt ratings there too.

I always thought they could move the NBA schedule back but it sounds like the 2nd covid year it went past early June they had really bad finals ratings. Not really sure what schedule is best, 82 games is way too many but the NBA is never going to want to lose that revenue.

Another issue is there are lots of people who consider themselves big fans but don’t actually watch the games. They follow them on social media and watch highlights or a truncated replay.

Yep. No reason to watch a stale product. Every game is boring, so I don't blame them.

They'll be a revolution and this will go away. Can't wait!
