So, people are mad that some companies are opening more doors for people, and the hires are *still* based on whether or not they're qualified? It's almost as if certain people are mad that white people are no longer automatically getting a foot in the door regardless of their qualifications. Like, I want companies to hire the most qualified and *actually* open the pool of applicants to everybody, instead of artificially limiting it to people who think salt is too much seasoning and love mayonnaise.
Reminds me of when the (I think) NY Philharmonic tried blind auditioning players. It didn't change anything until they installed a carpet in the audition room because they could still hear the clack of high heels. Once they did, the number of women in the orchestra shot way up suddenly. The -isms are deeply ingrained in people basically from birth by their family and the world. Only when the opportunities are given and people who aren't "the default" are seen everywhere will it start to feel normal. Only when it feels normal will those -isms start to fade. That these -isms are starting to fade is why the -ism fans are being so loud and fighting so hard to keep control. Of course they won't ever say they're -ists because being an -ist is fine but being CALLED an -ist is a fate worse than death to them. So that's why they're being such apocalyptic toddlers about it. This is also why I refuse to coddle the voters who are like, "you said mean words to me so I voted for the fascist." Obviously fascism is less of a problem for you than being called out on your bullshit. Grow the fuck up.
Like Costco is going to miss some dudes family memberships. I will sign up more of my family members to offset them
Some kind of delivery service. I got enough seniority not sure I’d ever have to worry about job security unless the whole company folded.
