God that is bleak and I can’t say I disagree with you. I don’t see any vets dealt except maybe time lord and duop who is essentially a young player

I doubt that Chauncey has a year left, but I'm sure Joe's job is safer than Chaunceys.

I believe Chauncey and Joe think they are making progress with offense. Not there yet but closer with Dani and Shae and Scoot coming along. Now, they want to solidify the d more going into next year and a playoff run.

That could be Im just think they attached to the hip for a 5 year plan. That started when Joe took over.

If we could pull Whitmore in a deal for Williams I’d be stoked.

    I like our direction.

1 couple of potential stars whether that’s Sharpe, Scoot, Toumani, Dani
    2. Length and size
    3. Couple elite defenders
    4 couple good bigs

With normal improvement I’m expecting us to compete for playoff spot next year and if we get lucky in draft maybe slightly higher.

really need Sharpe and Scoot to make a jump next year. Honestly Toumani has a higher ceiling than I initially thought. His shot looks good and now he’s driving the ball way more, add in his high bball IQ, and his competitiveness and we might have a special player

Why? If we could get him that would indicate he was not worth getting. Which I could easily see, as he's a me-first player.

They can keep the protected 1st if we don't have to take Rui.

I think it'll come down to whether or not Joe is ready to sell low on Ant at the deadline. I don't see them selling low on any other vet and actually I can see Duop, Thybulle and/or Walker moved for draft capital and/or a couple bench players. If a vet did get traded besides Ant of our starters Grant would probably generate some interest but you'd be selling low on him as well. I'd check with Boston and see if you could trade Ant for Pritchard (former Duck pt guard) and draft capital. Joe seems to have a relationship with Boston's front office

Gordon has started in 260 games for Denver and came off the bench in 6, that after he came back from an injury. He's also making significantly less salary than Ant, this year and next year. He's also been an integral member of a championship team while Ant has been a member of a deep lottery team. Gordon is a bad comp, IMO

Beal is a bad example too as he's a giant mistake by Phoenix that are mortgaging their future to be rid of

I'd think you'd have a tough time finding bench players making as much as Simons who aren't in their mid-30's after a demotion. And for a lottery team to pay a backup 27M/year is nuts. The problem with Simons is he's a role player best suited as a bench player but he's paid starter money. And his flaws and limitations make him an awkward fit on probably 25 rosters in the league....including the Blazers

I don't believe that the Blazers will move Simons to the bench. So it's come down to the choice most of knew was coming: either Scoot or Sharpe will be pushed to the bench to make way for Simons starting

Wow, a moderator used my suggestion about a thread! First time in many tries over years. Good. Why do you need approval? Were you neglected? Be a leader like me!

Here's another one from earlier today, and even with OP approval, if that's what you require.

Blazers got 3 picks for Dame but you think these overpaid trash vets we have will net 4?

I'd love to see it - I question that any of them can get ONE first round pick. Will be happy to proven wrong.

I'd be content with flipping them for a worthless vet on a similar contract who at least isn't entitled to a role.

He’s 20 years old and has a lot of upside. Probably the most realistic prospect we could get for Williams.

Correction: Gordon makes 23 million, Simons makes 26.

Not that that takes away from anything you said

I think we all need to be reminded that it's not as easy to make trades anymore because of all the new restrictions & financial impacts & risks.

correct. Ant makes 13% more than Gordon this year and will make 22% more next season; about 18% more over the this season and next. I consider that kind of significant. The only difference is Gordon signed a 3-year/103M extension last October from 2026-2029. We don't know yet what Ant's next contract will look like, If it's 34M/year like Gordon, or more, which I wouldn't dismiss with Cronin in charge....yeeeeesh

Why does Cronin like back loading contracts so much. Seems silly.

that's kind of a standard for most players and most teams....at least it was pretty standard. Maybe different now

Presti at OKC does things little different
