There were rumors about Nurk for Valanciunas... I guess we'll see what the Suns do, what a clusterfuck.

Edit: Also despite the lopsided trade the Kings stay out of the luxury tax.

    Ahh the amazing Sidy Cissoko.

Yeah I don't see how Timelord has more than 2nd round pick value. I'm all for just keeping him until the summer, he's the vet I most enjoy on this team.

Trading him by himself is probably negligible. But if you package him with Grant or Ant, it's possible you can get some juices flowing.

Lakers and a whole host of other teams were looking at him to fill their center rotation. Thus making Williams more valuable.

I mean Joe hasn't said a goddamn thing but Highkin said that the Blazers needed to be blown away to move off of Rob and that meant an unrestricted FRP. Is Whitmore worth that? If not is Whitmore a small enough downgrade from that to make the deal work and make Joe feel like his posturing paid off.

I mean who knows what the Blazers or any of these teams will actually settle for. We hear how Masai wanted multiple lottery picks for Siakam or OG then he ultimately settled for scraps. Or Aingle wants 4x FRP for Lauri then Luka gets traded for one.

Luka was traded for a 2nd team all NBA and All NBA defensive team AD + 1 FRP. The idea that Luka was worth only 1 FRP is nonsense and I wish people would stop parroting it.

Luka got traded for an aging superstar in AD that fits needs of that team and a FRP. Let's not keep saying that Luka only yielded a FRP, it's ridiculous.

KD was an old geezer and traded for Bridges/Cam plus 4 FRP. When the team is getting a clearly superior star it's not supposed to be ONE FRP. It should be a haul of them.

Luka made Five NBA 1st teams the last five years. AD made one

The Luka trade was the most lopsided in NBA history so it'll be used as an example for all of our lifetimes.

I don't give a flying eff what KD was traded for by a moron owner, nor is the perceived discrepancy between AD and Luka is, one of them is a 2-way superstar with a championship on his resume, one of them is decidedly a 1-way superstar.

At the end of the day, the idea that Luka was worth only 1 FRP is garbage and anyone that uses it as an argument for worth of players is doing no-one any favors, not to his audience nor to his own understanding of valuation.

It was a terrible trade for the Mavs there's just no reason to be hyperbolic about it and say it was Luka for one FRP when I think AD is probably a more valuable asset in terms of what the Mavs are currently trying to do than the FRP was.

My post wasnt about Luka value, it was that we have no idea what FRP value teams will settle for with these supposed reports and rumors.

Nobody would've thought a Luka for Davis swap would only cost a single FRP.

AD made the all nba second team last season, he was named to the all defensive first team. His numbers this season are just as good as they were last season. So the Mavs got an all nba second teamer and a FRP for an all nba first teamer. The big problem for the Mavs in terms of value is for sure that Luka likely has 8-10 years of his best basketball in front of him and AD's best basketball is behind him. It was a shitty trade.
