This is were common sense comes in, you do realize that summer was the year the NBA media contract kicked in and the salary cap had a huge jump? Every single team had money to spend on free agents, so regardless on who it was, we needed to spent money. thats how the Warriors signed KD due to the salary cap jump Maybe complain that no big name ever signs as a free agent in Portland and thus we were forced to take what we could get?
See, this is where most fans don't get it. You are right, of course, but it's not how many they HAVE drafted, it's how many thy COULD have drafted. It's about opportunity. They missed Wemby by one ping ball or number, or whatever. They could have drafted Durant at 1, but not at 3....etc.
Completely admit I am a cuck and was wrong about this team. No problem. Now, What will you do if the team finishes with 10ish or so wins to close out the season?
Find you in the same way you has told us about your inside sources news bits many times that never turned out? lol Ofcourse we will come back down to earth, the fact is the team is growing, Scoot, Sharpe, Camara are getting better. Deni is only 23....when the youngsters have won us games this year you guys still complain lol. There is no pleasing fans like yourself, sorry to say
You really would? Would you root for wins and not losses at that point? They would be on a 16 game win streak and winning 20 of the last 21 games (going 20 and 1). If it goes the other way? I would very shocked and if it was done intentionally, such as with fake injuries and giving halfway through a game like previously (and low effort), I would be pissed and stop watching them. I certainly wouldn't be happy and embrace tanking. I'll never agree with the lottery system and think it ruins the sport/league.
Love all of those guys. Too bad the Conductor has a double standard when it comes to his young guards and his old guard. Too bad Grant is awful. Too bad Ayton disappears night in and night out. Those are the guys that are getting the bulk of the minutes, and since they can't lead this team anywhere, I don't care about them or the teams success Again, we both want wins, I just want them in the form of a title run, and you seem to be happy with meaningless ones
There's been 3 high lottery picks added rom the Blazers losing in the last 50 years: LaMarcus, Martell Webster, and Greg Oden
Your seriously are still defending the Olshey 2016 off-season? LMAO Yeah the Blazers "needed" to spend 75 million on Evan Turner over 4 years who promptly retired when the contract ended. Some of the delusional homer fans on this site are hilarious.
I like this guy, @Domihatin . Passion. True fan. The games, and this board, are all about entertainment. Keep these takes coming.
Warriors signed Kevin Durant, so the Blazers "had" to give 4 year deals to Turner, Crabbe and Meyers. Like the Blazers couldn't have used that cap space to get picks from another team, or just signed 1 year deals, or even worst case stayed under the minimum salary (zero penalties in those prior CBA) Warriors get Durant so homer fans here think that justifies Olshey signing an injured Meyers for 4 years. Unbelievable lol
I think this attempt for the playoffs will set us back big time. We will be overachievers but not a contender. What we really need is to add quality draft asset. Can you imagine Scoot Sharpe Camara Avdija Ayton Clingan With Cooper Flagg?
Can you imagine them without him? You don't have to. You can see them playing right now without him. He's not needed. Stop looking at the what ifs and just look at what is. Support this team, not some player who isn't even on the team. F*** right off with the what about Cooper Flagg s***.
The time for an action on this was from the day we traded Dame until the start of this season. For some bizarre reason Cronin decided to assemble this Ant Grant Ayton ~$100 million big3 instead. At this point the ship has long sailed of the Blazers positioning for a top lotto pick.
Just a preference if you prefer to build a below .500 team fighting for the playin or a higher upside roster with championship potential. To your point - Flagg won't be so the team so he's just not relevant to the Blazers future.
I certainly did answer the question, albeit with a typo. I said I would be shocked and continued on from there.
