I don't think it would ever happen. But Trey Murphy is another name i like. High volume 3pt shooter, decent defender, can be more useful with high usage.
This season... yes. But that is because Grant has been complete ass this year. Career wise, Lauri & Grant are the same tier of player. Lauri is slightly better, but not by much.
So we're mad as hell that 26 year old Anfernee at 26 million a year is blocking Scoot and Sharpe, but we wanna trade for a 28 year old who will block Deni and Toumani, while making damn near 50 million dollars a year?! He's a guy assisted on 80% of his shots throughout his career. We're paying 50 million a year for a guy who we generally don't put the balls in his hand to create? Does he do something ELITE that justifies it a all? I half joke but Michael Porter Jr. is a year younger, a better shooter, paid less, and likely comes much cheaper. I don't get this idea at all. If we're to make a big trade in the offseason, and move multiple picks to start trying to compete, I'd love it to be on a guy who could be a true 1st option. Is there another 1st option in the league with a similar percentage of their shots being assisted? What about 2nd options? When was the last time someone scored 25 PPG while being assisted 75% of the time?
If we ARE going to make a trade, I would just consolidate 2 of the Scoot/Shaedon/Toumani/Deni/Clingan core for a true superstar. Barring that kind of trade, I wouldn't really be interested in picking up any 20M+ player. Rather just let those 5 start and remove any blockers from them getting 30 MPG each. Find a way to get some shooting for them off the bench.
have people taken a look at Markkanen's new contract? he's not worth that cost. That's not to say he's not a good player. He just wouldn't move the needle enough for Portland so far, the only 'viable' target I've seen, is Zion and I doubt the Pels are going to trade him, and if they are, the price would likely be too high
Yeah - Im not trading Grant for Lauri straight up. I agree Zion is the only 'realistic' trade target. It would require Portland to get the #2 or #3 pick in the lotto though for something to happen
If we could get Zion for our pick in this draft assuming it's somewhere in the 8-12 range, the worst of our pick, the Bucks and the Celtics in the 2029 draft and Ayton, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Still trade Ant and try to get back into this draft in the middle of the first round to draft a 5 with complementary skills to platoon with Clingan. We would be set. Just get rid of Jerami and shoot for home court in the playoffs next season.
I'd be furious if we traded our Bucks pick. That might be our last chance to get better. I'd rather let the team bake and see what we need in a couple years before trading our only and potentially best asset.
Zion is great when he plays. But did we not learn from Oden? I wouldn’t trade much for Zion strictly because of his health concerns.
He said "WORST OF" Portland, Buck, Celtics in 2029. Washington has rights to the middle pick of the 3. Portland would still have control of the best of the 3.
I was saying aside: I know Cronin doesn't have the best job security so I'm concerned he's going to sacrifice that pick.
