He was done. It was time to move on, and they got a good package for him. Even if DA can be a bit mercurial, he puts up better #'s than Nurk did and does.
nah...you called Jody a cheap "b" word dviss...that's a false equivalency and I stated why. Phil Knight wants to turn Oregon into a red state. It's why Paul Allen never liked the guy. We didn't play a lick of defense under Olsey....under Cronin, we're developing two way players, not ISO players and we have an actual bench. Early this season I didn't see it but now, it's paying off. I said Jody shouldn't sell the team to KNIGHT, not that she shouldn't sell the team. Also said 2 billion was a low ball offer which it is. As to Dame, I still believe he'll end his career as a Blazer.
You know Nate -- going to try and say this without trying to start something with ya but your reasoning leaves out one option that could also be true .. Cronin screwed up on this one -- even if you buy that he is better then some think ( me and others ) that is fine but you hardly if ever that I have read but to be fair do not see everything you say on this board but never seen you give Cronin any heat for the bad stuff that he has done. This is why I think your a suck up or something to Cronin cause you always are there to make excuses for the man so I am giving you a chance to explain why you never give Cronin any real heat ?? I will ALWAYS have a bone to pick with Cronin over the Dame thing and how it was handled but now that time has passed I have come to a new conclusion. I am starting to wonder if someone over in the front office / ownership side of things might be making it harder for Cronin to get things done. Now I still think Joe could be more creative and find a way to get more done but I am willing to concede its at least POSSIBLE outside shit is causing Joe to not do stuff too. I still think he is a average GM at best but he really has to get something done more like get rid of some dead weight before it drags the rebuild into the ground AKA Grant , Ant and Ayton. I feel at least 2 have to go before the start of next season and the other at the deadline or this team is going to run into wall with it's rebuild.
Thinking Dame made a career decision because of what other people thought after ignoring all the pressure for him to ask out way before that makes no sense.
It happens all the time, actually. Agents. Handlers. Friends. Family. They all advise or work on people to make decisions, career and otherwise, and eventually they find something that compels them or what not. In Dame's case in particular, the specificity of Miami as a destination rather than just wanting out changes the entire dynamic.
I think she is a cheap bitch. I don't care about Phil Knight as a person. He would be an amazing owner. I couldn't care less what Cronin says about who we're developing. He is not a good GM. I think he's trash personally. And ever since he lied he lost any credibility he could've had with me. I don't know anything about what Phil Knight offered but I do believe Dame would still be here had he purchased the team. And I'd rather still have Dame than of most the team we have currently.
Dame wouldn't have ever asked for a trade if we did the things we should've done. I think had we hired a competent GM, he'd still be here.
I didn't disagree with the trade. I was just sad to see him go and it was Cronin's bitch ass who did it. These things aren't mutually exclusive.
If we’re gonna talk about b**** a** dudes, I’d like to begin the conversation with the guy who you’re so sad we parted with. His face would appear under that term in brittanica.
To each his own. You don't hurt me by talking shit about Nurk. I think coaching and the way he was used ruined him tbh.
I’ve been thinking about this and I don’t think the front office wants a top 3 pick. The pressure is too high, the max contract extensions are too expensive. We do a lot better in the 6-11 range; almost all of our biggest successes have come in the lower half of the top ten.
