The rumblings are already ominous. There appears to be a real possibility that Catholicism might be on the verge of going back to the ultra conservative dark ages. Mini Trumps in Roman collars are apparently jockeying for position. Fortunately the Church has no legal authority or we'd really be fucked........but unless the more "liberal" elements of the College of Cardinals stand firm, I wouldn't be surprised if the Church reverts back to pre Vatican II repressive Catholicism......the longer civilization exists, the more stupid mankind becomes.....

The safe bet on a new Pope is one similar to the old Pope.
