If the price is right and with Zion’s heavily protected contract, a trade makes some sense. If the protections kick in, they can bail on the contract, and they accomplished trading veteran contracts. If Zion is healthy, it’s a serious score. Trading 1st rounders or Sharpe are tipping points for a no trade. Scoot? Maybe, maybe not. Trading Ant, Grant, Ayton in some combination works. Trading Toumani or Deni is a no. And the Pels already have Herb Jones and Trey Murphy. EDIT: I expect to go back and forth on for and against a trade for Zion. There are a handful of players/trades I’m up for and none of them include trading Clingan, Deni, Toumani … and few would include Sharpe.
No thanks. Zion does not have the desire & drive to be great & win. He’s seems to be one of those guys who’s in it for a nice paycheck, doesn’t really care about winning.
But that doesn’t mean Mike isn’t knowledgeable when talking about the team. He never pretends to have insight (compare to Marang) and is very humble and clear about what he knows and doesn’t know
No on all counts, tyvm. We'd need all of those guys if we ever got a healthy season out of Zion. Yeah, unless you know you're trading for an unknown future superstar PG, I agree. Sounds like Bert Kolde and Jody. Oh shit. This might actually happen...
Hell yeah Timelord Mk II! I can’t wait to get several good games out of him before his body disintegrates into slime or whatever happens to Blazers with injury history.
No, I would not do it. Much more likely his career looks like Ben Simmons 2.0 in a few years, or what Embiid just did - than an all-star.
Yes! A change of scenery is obviously needed. He’s also obviously a ginormous risk but it’s one you have to take IMO. He’s a mega superstar if you can rejuvenate him. With Zion, who’s the ideal fit offensively next to Clingan, you’re a contender in a few years. The key to staying healthy is his weight - 265-270 should be the goal.
Wait??? The guys on this forum know EVERYTHING! They listen to the guys on the YOU TUBE. Dammit man! Don't you know nuthin?
I do like Mike Richman. I have talked to him a bit. You are correct about him not making any outlandish claims about what he knows. He follows close and understands the CBA pretty well.
While I still think Scoot has the tools and the capability of being s star, if he's added to a trade for Zion that includes Alvarado, I could live with it. Timelord or Ayton/Grant/Scoot or Simons/25 FRP (if #10) or 28 FRP (if 25 pick ends up top 4) for Zion/Alvarado/filler Have no idea if the math works on that... they may have to end up sending CJ back here to match salaries, which I admittedly wouldn't hate either. I still think Simons has a landing spot in Orlando if they could make it work. Caldwell-Pope is washed and Ant would fit right in next to Suggs. Maybe get Da Silva and KCP back, hell I'd even take McClung lol for the Remix lulz.
I think if you wanted Alvarado back then Scoot, Ayton and the 10th pick would make sense from our standpoint and probably theirs. I think the same package works if we move up but the draft compensation would have to be something like the worst or our 2029 FRPs and our 2031 FRP top 10 protected, conveys as our 2031 SRP if it lands in the top ten. Ant does make sense going to Orlando. If they're just trying to unload KCP then maybe him, Black and the 16th pick for Ant and Kris makes sense to both teams. Both of the trades I'm proposing work as far as salary matching goes.
