So what's the theory on why recruiting is going so badly right now? I don't really care until we get closer to signing day, but I'm curious.... we had the #1 ranked recruiting class for 2026 not that long ago
My theory is that for 2-3 years, the Division Street NIL program at Oregon gave them a big edge. It was significantly more advanced and effective than all but a few schools but a lot of programs have caught up. And, year to year, different schools will be willing to outspend everybody else. A few years ago, it was Texas A&M. This year it's USC that is rumored to be spending in the 30-35M range on NIL. Oregon is also in a position where they can't have a big class in terms of total commits. USC has 27 commits right now; Oregon has 7 Oregon getting boat-raced by Ohio State in the playoffs probably isn't helping, but results of single games have never meant much but here's the thing: programs like Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Florida, LSU....those schools just have much larger alumni bases; and a much higher number of wealthy alumni's. The reality of NIL is that Oregon will eventually playing catch-up. I think 'eventually' has arrived
This is what I suspected. We were in a good spot to take advantage early and now the blue bloods are waking up to the fact that they can't get by with their name recognition only. Everyone thinks the Ducks have unlimited Nike money.
Bummer missing out on 5* QB Curtis, I'm sure they're doing a full pivot to 5* Ryder Lyons now. Unfortunately forecasts for stud OT Jackson Cantwell are trending towards Georgia as well. While of course they've a great football program, their track program has the same throwing coach that trained his Mom and has been a friend of the family for all of Jackson's life. Thankfully there is a pretty good fall back option at OT as well. STOMP
sure can, and sometimes they leave right after they sign as well (see Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele & Dallas Wilson) however, far more often then not guys stick to their verbal commitments STOMP
I'm sorry, are we not in the Ducks thread here? Football recruiting stuff has been whats dominated these threads for years. It seems like if you don't want to read about and discuss what they're doing with recruiting, you should avoid this thread instead of just showing up to yuck the yum of those that do, or is being a bummer the point? Lots more recruiting talk will be coming STOMP
I love discussing the Ducks... And I'm not telling anyone how to post. Actually, you're the one who has been guilty of that multiple times in multiple Duck threads and the Duck forum. And as far as me being negative? Really? Me saying I'm not going to be worried about recruiting is being negative? No, that is being positive. If you want to be upset because we didn't get a couple of recruits, you go for it. Clutch those pearls!
Upset? Saying "bummer" and then immediately turning the page to the next guy is me being upset and deserves insults? Good grief Sly, I'm just following the ups and downs of the recruiting ride. Where ever that ride ends up, I'm still going to be enjoying rooting for my team with friends and family win or lose. If following recruiting isn't for you, fine. No need to be a jerk towards those who do STOMP
Dude chill out we’re just telling you recruiting isn’t what it is anymore. Signing day is what counts but like I said that’s not even guaranteed anymore. In fact, I should say let me know when they play a snap lol
I'm completely chill dude. You've just said the same wet blanket thing umpteen times which makes your redundant take as boring as a one note song. Again, you're free to ignore recruiting talk if you're so above/beyond it or you can continue to be a bummer in this thread... which has been and will continue to be largely about Oregon Duck recruiting. Continuing to post this same drivel here makes as much sense as posting on the Blazer NBA draft thread that almost none of those players are likely to be Blazers 25 times. Following sports is a waste of time in general and that those who do are already aware of it... we're following along because we enjoy it. If it's not for you, fine STOMP
