That is bad news. Way too young to be dealing with that.
Does it seem like there are more Achilles tendon injuries in the last few years than in the past? Weird.

Sure seems like it. These guys push their bodies to the limit though.

Yeah Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe were just discussing this.... The NBA needs to play less games. The game is just way more physically intense than it used to be. I mean there were banging PF that were more physical decades ago than the finesse 4's today... but the nonstop movement and up and down the floor teams do with high intensity on both sides of the ball is just at a higher level than it was decades ago.

You'd have guys just standing around on either side of the ball. Also the court wasn't spread out with 4 3pt shooters and nonstop movement. There was a full 24 second clock before but now it only resets to 14 for the offense. I remember on offensive rebounds how you could just about get up to grab a drink before they'd start getting into the offense.

So we currently have four playoff series and 3 of them have major stars injured. Curry and Butler for GS. Mitchell, Garland and Allen for the Cavs, Tatum on Boston.

Playoffs are just becoming an endurance test of who can have the least injuries.

    I'm not sure that's true

I'm checking pace. This season the median pace is 98.9. When the Blazers won the championship in 1977, the median pace was 106.2. So, more than 7 extra possessions a game. About 10 years later when the Lakers and Celtics were taking turns the median Pace was 101.3

by the way, the year the Blazers entered the NBA, the median Pace was 115.7; and Portland led the NBA in Pace at 120.6. In other words, the Blazers had 21 more possessions a game then they did this season

    * in 1977, there were 33 players who averaged 35 minutes or more; and 73 who averaged 30 minutes or more
    * in 1987 there were 33 players who averaged 35 minute or more; and 83 players who averaged 30 minutes or more
    * this season, only 20 players averaged 35 minutes or more; and 73 who averaged 30 minutes or more

.....and the seasons now are more spread out with more rest days than it was back then

in 1977, the Blazers had 17 back-to-backs. This season they had 11

I don't think the injuries are very connected to the pace or the schedule. I'm not sure what's at work, but maybe the NBA should crack down on players wearing whatever loopy looking shoes they want from shoe makers they sign contracts with. All these low cut shoes and fancy soles may be crappy foundations for a basketball floor

I was wondering if overstretching or improper stretching could lead to more Achilles tears. Here’s what I found on Chat GPT. seems like this has been an injury that happens more than it ever did in the past

Pacers are the best shooting team so far in the playoffs.

Just not an Indiana fan. Didn't really like em with Reggie Miller and I don't really care for Haliburton.

OKC licking their chops on Indy and now NYC possibly coming out of the east.

    64 wins and gone.
If Denver wins, the 1, 2, and 3 seeds will all have been eliminated.

Looks to me like the only thing they are licking is their wounds. Denver having their way right now.

Thunder got this win. Not sure the nuggets can win the next 2.

My bad. Somehow lost count and thought Denver up 3-1 rather than 2-2 tie.

I agree with Barkley. The Nuggets have got to find Jokic a good backup.
