KCP's contract is one extra year over the Simons contract. I don't see that as a problem unless Cronin foolishly re-signs Ayton to a big deal.

but Issac's contract is not as bad as it seems 1st glance

those terms give the Blazers an out if Issac gets injured again

We don't need a $21 million vet that's going to come off the bench.

Sometimes you gotta take something bad to get something that helps the team NOW considering IF we trade Grant that could be an ugly deal in terms of eating a semi bad contract but if the Blazers could get the 16th pick in an Ant deal I would be open to it.

Wonder how far up you could jump if we had 11 and 16? And then question is there player up above that we could possibly land say in the 7-9 range that we are high on?

    Agreed.
But we already have a $27M vet that SHOULD be coming off the bench. IMO, KCP is the lesser of the two evils.

Brooklyn would be nice. They could throw us their early pick and and a late 1st since they have four of them.

The issue with KCP being included is he is such a negative asset, ORL would have to include something else. He drastically declined last year and the length of that contract stinks.

People are overly hating on KCP.

Ant has 1 year at $27M
KCP has 2 years at $21M ($43M total)

He's on par with Simons for being a positive impact player. He doesn't score as much, but contributes in other ways...

Once you consider a possible Simons extension, KCP is less expensive for similar positive impact.

If push comes to shove, I think you could dump KCP for expiring contracts right now.
The Lakers would give up Maxi + Vincent for him easily

Whatever the end result is, Blazers need to go in with a high asking price. The Blazers have what the Magic want. The Blazers should be dictating the trade and not getting taken.

The Deni trade has me optimistic this will be the case.

has there been any real indication that Orlando wants Simons enough to pay any price close to what you're implying? They could have traded for him last summer but they signed KCP

that's an honest question. I don't know if Orlando is actually interested. I know Portland/NBA/Orlando fans have been talking about it plenty for a couple of years. Not sure either front office is dialed in like the fans are. It may be that the reasons why so many Blazer fans want Simons traded are the same reasons why Orlando isn't interested

that said, sure, Orlando needs an offensive upgrade. They were 27th in offensive rating but 2nd in defensive rating; 28th in TS%. They are 30th in the NBA in 3ptFG% but 1st in opponent 3ptFG%. On paper, they could upgrade by exchanging some defensive efficiency for offensive efficiency. But it might be that they don't want to make that exchange by adding an undersized tweener guard who is well known as one of the worst defenders in the league; not if it comes at the cost of a 16th pick?

For whatever reason, fans are always convinced players want to play for their home town teams, and those teams are desperate for said player.

Isaac can defend. A Tisse/Camara/Isaac/Clingan combo would shut people down. Imagine having them to get a stop at the end of a close game.

I think it's only a 50/50 at best Ant is traded -- I still think for some reason Cronin still see's him as a core piece.

Setting aside if you agree or disagree IF this is the case then Sharpe or Scoot MUST go unless your just going to try and stunt Scoot's and maybe even Sharpe's growth as a player. -- period
