Nowadays we're more sellers than buyers (how I miss Paul Allen's bottomless pockets) but it's always fun to talk about possible draft gems available late, so you can include guys who might go undrafted that you'd like to see invited to camp or on our summer league team. I think we could always do with a heady backup PG (which was why I was so happy to see us draft Tyler Kolek last year - grrr), so I'll start with: Mark Sears
My pick just withdrew — Milos Uzan I’d pick Rocco Zikarsky but he’s rising My picks: 1a) Miles Byrd 1b) Bogoljub Markovic Darkhorse: Rueben Chinyelu
Byrd sounds interesting. Good size for a SG and sounds like he has a brain. "Byrd is a good athlete but not elite by NBA standards. What stands out more is his feel for the game and his anticipation of the play on both ends of the floor. He’s a very good cutter and off-ball mover. On defense he’s a play-maker who racks up steals and blocks. He’s got quick hands, great awareness and has some dawg in him."
I'll be shocked if the Blazers acquire a 2nd round pick even if we could buy one for cheap. Blazers will want to keep roster spots available. Also if we trade Ayton/Ant/etc we might get more players back. If we don't use MLE can potentially use a spot to add a player via trade.
I'm a decently big fan of Sion James for what he is. Better off ball defender than on the ball but still positive most likely and if the jumper can get to solid on decent volume he's got a real chance to be a positive rotation guy on a good team type. My favorite parts of his game are probably his burst with the ball and finishing at the rim. Just a pretty damn good overall athlete. Very nice connective passer as well.
