If he can ever stay healthy Isaac is exactly the type of oldschool Detroit Piston player that Schmitz and Co. seem to covet
I have been a big advocate for Isaac since it became more evident that Portland was building a long, defensive minded roster. But, a lot of posters started talking politics this and that and said he wouldn't fit in with the fan base. Now (since the world hasn't ended with the current potus) evidently Isaac's beliefs are acceptable. Anyone that does a little research into Isaac's character will find he is quite literally the anti-NBA stereotype and loved by everyone around him. Sorry to bring in politics, but it's been okay for many others when it fit their narrative.
Oh, the world hasn't ended. Well I guess then all the shit he's done is small potatoes. Thanks for the perspective!
The better he actually is, the less likely the trade is to happen. And given that Orlando just gave him a multi-year extension, it kinda seems less likely that he'd be a throw-in to make the salaries match.
I thought of another possibility: I very much doubt Orlando would do it, but here's a possible rationale: They just pushed the Celtics without Suggs, who is (a) signed to a big contract, (b) apparently injury-prone, and (c) not a pure shooter. If they acquired Anfernee with an eye to re-signing him, then that would just add to a prohibitive list of big contracts. Whereas if they offload Suggs, then there's more room. Why would we do it? Suggs is a real leader and a great defender. Plus Anfernee is from Orlando and Suggs is from the Pacific NW. Of course, he and Scoot would be treading on each other's toes and if you play them together that's very poor shooting, which is another reason it won't happen.
I think if the expectation is that Suggs is coming back at near what he was before getting injured that they would actively want to get Cole Anthony's contract off the books... that is if Suggs were coming back and they were bringing in Ant. That's why my packages have been Cole Anthony and Anthony Black plus some kind of draft consideration for Anfernee. It works as far as salary matching goes if they do it during this league year and if the Magic just pick up the option on Black. I don't know if we'd get those two and one of the Magic's FRPs in this draft but we might, or maybe we get one of those two picks if we add a couple of second rounders. Very interested to see what Joe does in the next 4 weeks if anything.
I don't see it. Orlando wants to keep Suggs - he's basically part of their big3 with Paolo and Wagner. Might be a rare lose lose trade as well as I don't see how Suggs fits good here with Sharpe/Deni/Camara. Rhen we also have to deal with Grant/KCP demanding minutes too.
That trade doesn't help the Blazers. It doesn't make the Blazers better. We are trying to get out of huge contracts not take on other ones that are just as bad.
