Dame's representatives violated NBA rules by directly putting pressure in the media for the Blazers to trade him. Dame was under contract - it was a violation for him through his reps to publicly demand a trade. His reps said he would hold out to any team that traded for him outside of the Heat. The NBA had to step in and have a meeting with all parties. Not sure how some of the Dame apologist just glance over this. When in Blazers history have we had a player go to these lengths to demand to get off the team? Can make a good case it was the most disrespectful exit of any Blazer from the franchise.
Well we won’t know for at least 48 hours, but this one could take a while to find out what happens. Highly unlikely he doesn’t clear waivers given his injury situation for next season.
Could be his best fit to play the GTjr role though. There’s still no telling how the injury is going to impact his career.
I'm a big Dame fan, but this is not the time to even consider this. Not going to get into any pissing match with posters who have bile toward Dame and are spewing it let the new owner decide if there's any reason to consider Dame at a minimum salary. I doubt Dame would have interest in that. I would not be surprised if he actually rehabs sooner than normal, but it's kind of hard for me to see him even being ready by the 10-day contract window next season
You think those are comparable? Drexler played half that season for the Blazers and was playing for the team days before the trade. Walton believes the medical staff was incompetent and screwed up his injuries. He could hardly walk correctly the rest of his life and was a shell of the player from when he joined the Blazers.
It is a great situation for him. Going to be a very interesting storyline to watch. I’m sure most every team is probably gauging interest. No way he doesn’t clear waivers given injury status, right? How could people be mad if he chose to be here when he could choose to be anywhere… The Lakers might even be a possibility. Portland’s gotta be on that list of possible destinations just because of the history, but I’m not sure we would be at the top of his list. I don’t think Miami would be where it was either.
I thought Dame wanted to go to Miami because of the nightlife since he was getting a divorce. I would rehab there before choosing a team.
NBA stars are super delusional about how good they still are as the age. I think it will take a team to give Dame a try and then he fails to be as effective as he used to be. Better that is another team without all the drama of him in Portland.
