Grant is one of the best three point shooters in the league. Scoot, Tou, and Deni can shoot too. Adding shooters that can’t play D and are stuck on the bench doesn’t help when it comes to winning games.
I am happy with their top 9 Scoot, Jrue, Shae, Thybulle Grant, Toumani, Deni, Clingan, Williams We probably need 1-2 guys to step up from this group Yang, Rupert, Sidy, Love, Murray and Reath A lot of movement so far, but how many of them are better than what we have? Not saying this is a top team, just that there have not been many free agents or trade options that I wished we had gone after.
Last night I watched his 49-8-6 performance from 2024. He can shoot for sure. He just needs to adjust to his new role.
Theres not a chance in hell Yang becomes a superstar. He will be a star in China, but not here as defined by the NBAs version of what a superstar is (jokic, sga, etc) hes never going to get close to that.
What a load of buzzkill for the sole purpose of buzzkill. Dude! And I voted for you not to be banned? Why would you want to water down any rookies future just because you hate basketball so much? The kid hasn’t even broken a sweat in the nba yet and you’ve defined his failure already. Good thing nobody thought Jokic was only a second round project picked in the 40s eh?
Oh you got the vote all wrong. No one was voting to ban Stren, they just wanted him not to be a mod anymore so they could block his hyper negative posts. I don't think the vote mattered though.
I don't know we kept the guy who had the best three point shooting percentage on the team last season (Matisse), we let he guy with he second best walk (Jabari), Toumani was number three on the team, Deni was number four, Jerami was number five but the two seasons prior to last he was our best three point shooter percentage-wise. Ant was next on the list. Last year Jrue shot 1% worse than Ant from three. I think we all expect Shaedon and Scoot to shoot a lot better from three this season but we'll have to see about that. No, I don't think we'll be the worst three point shooting team in the league this upcoming season. I actually think we'll be a better three point shooting team than we were last year when we were 6th worst for three point percentage and middle of the pack (18th) in three pointers made. More importantly I'm hoping we lead the league in fast break points, that we lead the league in opponent turnovers and that we lead the league in opponent field goal percentage.
We've done a bunch of stuff this offseason. The fact that the QUITTER is no longer on my favorite team is addition by subtraction. I don't agree with the Holiday move but it was still a move.
Yeah, I'm with you. I think Jrue probably has more value than Ant even with the injuries and contract but it's a head scratcher for me. Obviously we need vets on the team and we do need a third guard to go with Scoot and Shaedon but I don't know about one of the greatest defensive guards ever who still probably sees himself that way (starting PG on the championship team just over a year ago). If he starts it could stunt the growth of Scoot or Shae and if he doesn't that could be problematic too.
Funny comment because muck up the books is exactly what they did - turned expiring contracts into 70 million additional contracts until 2028.
The prior two offseasons were the times we made mistakes on Grant. First to offer that stupid contract two years ago, second to not flip him for the best return possible last summer when he had a far better than expected season. But once we got a few months into last season and Grant played like shit the chance of getting off that contract was basically over. So thats not a mistake this summer.
They are under the tax and that’s keeping the books clear. They have assets as well. If they build value with Grant they could move him mid season. They’re just not selling low on him and you have to take on salary to field a competitive team. I think they signed the right vets this time
I'm good with Ayton buyout. The draft pick of Yang seems very questionable to me but I'll give the Blazers the benefit of the doubt. Picks outside the top10 are a crapshoot. At least we added the Orlando pick even if Yang flops. I'm happy to have Jrue over Ant for this NEXT season. I will say of moves this summer the #1 major concern is that 2nd and 3rd year on Jrue contract. That looks like the one huge mistake of this summer. Combined with the prior two years of Grant contract mistakes that has about 70million screwing up our cap for guys who will probably both be bench players. Or we might hope they will happily accept being bench players. That erases all the benefits and more of Deni/Camara inexpensive contracts over the next few years Overpaying irrelevant non all-stars has been a consistent Blazers theme going back to Olshey Meyers/Turner/Crabbe off-season. Cronin has made the same mistakes on over a half dozen players for years as well. Instead of following an OKC/Rockets/Celtics/Spurs model it seems like we're emulating franchises like the Kings and recently the Raptors.
For the record, I have no problem with this post. It’s just an opinion. Neither of us knows what will actually happen. I appreciate that, in no part of your post, did you put me down. Thank you.
