Oh yeah, Melo is a good call I just don't see him or Scottie as anything but a 3 even with Pippen's versatility.

No chance I’m taking Melo. Dude never even came close to winning. Chucker extreme.

Here’s chat GPTs opinion no way I’m taking LMA

All-Time Blazers Starting 5 (Regardless of Prime with Portland):

    PG – Damian Lillard

    • Why: Blazers’ all-time leading scorer, 7× All-Star, elite shooter and clutch performer. Face of the franchise for over a decade.

    SG – Clyde Drexler

    • Why: 10× All-Star, Hall of Famer, led team to two NBA Finals, elite scorer and rebounder. Most complete Blazer ever.

    SF – Scottie Pippen

    • Why: Even though he wasn’t in his prime in Portland, he’s one of the greatest defenders and winners in NBA history (6× NBA champ, 7× All-Defense). Still very effective in his Blazer years, especially in the 2000 WCF run.

    PF – LaMarcus Aldridge

    • Why: 4× All-Star with the Blazers, elite midrange game, consistent 20/10 threat, and one of the best forwards in franchise history.

    C – Bill Walton

    • Why: At his peak with Portland, he was the best center in the NBA. 1977 NBA Champion, Finals MVP, 1978 League MVP. Dominated both ends of the floor.

    6th Man – Arvydas Sabonis

    • Why: Brilliant big man who would’ve been an all-time NBA great had he arrived earlier. Still made a huge impact late in his career with Portland.

Wow! Taking Aldridge over Wallace or Lucas is a shocker.

Totally agree. If we go by players prime I'd also put Jrue ahead of Dame. Defense and deferring to others matters a lot on a super team.

Dame wasn't very effective on the Olympics.

Melo was a great team player on the Olympics. He wouldn't fit with a Dame type of player but with Pippen/Sheed/Walton etc he'd be very good.

Id ultimately pick others over prime Melo for defense though.

Might be that Aldridge being more recent has way more Internet content than Wallace/Lucas/etc

Clyde is a big two and Sabonis is huge. Im okay with Pippen at the four. I think he would keep up.

Absolutely no way a list can leave off any of Roy, Clyde and Lillard. You can debate the rest. I would add Walton and Lucas or Aldridge.

Didn't forget. He didn't have that same go-for-the-throat mentality that I think both Lucas and Buck had. Too laid back.

From a pure skill perspective, he would be my first choice. But the mental aspect of the game also matters and I think both of them have that over Sheed.

A lot of 132-131 wins in this team's record book!

That's a damn good point. Match Jrue/Drexler/Pippen/Sheed/Walton up against Dame/Roy/Melo/LMA/Sabas and I think team 1's defense shows out big time

Wallace wouldn't even be my No. 2 PF. That would be Lucas. Tough leaving Roy off there.
