I’ve followed Blazers for 35 years. Outside of Dame & Roy, who else compares? Hollywood Robinson maybe? Jerryd Bayless?
I've never been as stoked for a draft pick as I was with the Greg Oden sweepstakes...that was an incredible rush. I like the new rookie a lot.
For me, so far Yang has passed every test. That dude moves really well for a guy who is a legit 7'1". His passing is somewhere between Joker and Arvydas. The guy has good defensive timing in the paint as far as shot blocking and shot altering. He has touch around the rim offensively. He doesn't look terrible putting the ball of the floor. His personality is an A+. Still a lot to see before we know how good or bad he can be but there is a lot to be excited about.
At any rate, all the people who were variously suicidal/homicidal on draft night can calm down. It really wasn't worst move in NBA history.
Yang's become a big national story. I bet we now get a few national TV games this year. Last two seasons the only ones were Lillard return games.
Dude got drafted while eating Fried Chicken in the stand. Jokic was drafted during TV Commercial. Fun Stuff.
At the draft I thought he did seem a bit nervous adjusting something when he was told to get ready. I had assumed it was his clothes/suit. Funny he was just mow down a bunch of greasy chicken lol. I guess he did tell us he likes to eat, sleep, and play video games.
He has been a pleasure to watch, both the good and the bad. I will be the first to admit that when the pick was announced I literally yelled WTF unabbreviated scratching my head in confusion but their reach is looking like it might be a smart one. Only time and development will tell but he has passed all of my eye tests for a newly 20 year old rookie.
